Hi MOMs,

PLEASE REFER ME TO YOUR HAIRDRESSER! I need a MASTER. Someone who has cut hair for a very long time & can deal with crazy curly unruly hair. If they are in Winter Park or close to Winter Park, I am there.

My hair is at its wits end or split ends. I haven't been to a hairdresser in several months because every time I would go -- they would cut, cut, cut regardless of what I wanted. OH, the hairdresser had very logical reasons -- but my wild hair doesn't like logic or reasons. Since I was tired of having short hair, I grew it out. Now it is hair gone wild.

So What Happened?

I decided to go to Ciseaux (scissors in french) off N. Wymore Rd. in Winter Park because it was the closest to my home, and I discovered that they have a really great computer appointment website (I'll explain in a minute).

Here is their website: www.salonciseaux.com.

Thank you so much for recommending it. Also, their prices were 5 to 10 dollars lower than some others -- but yikes...you don't want to be TOO cost conscious with your hair. When I went to their website late on Sunday night, they had a computer sign-up part where I could choose my time, day & person. I really loved that since I have such a crazy schedule.

So this a.m., I'm about an hour early wondering if I could just have a haircut then without driving around Winter Park or eating somewhere! Yes. They definitely want to please their customers. Plus, it was only $ 40 with extra conditioning and so forth. I had Alisha, but Ashley is good & everyone is skilled with difficult hair.

They offered me coffee & didn't try to sell me a lot of products that I could buy at the Betty's Beauty Supply store for half the price. I LOVE the cut & she didn't hack away......taking off only 1/2 an inch.

THANK YOU again for taking the time to recommend your favorites. I really do appreciate it! My curls are happy once again!

Hello-
I've been seeing my hairdresser for about 10 years. She's the best!! Very hip, the Salon is called Ciseau (french for "scissors") and is in Winter Park on Lee Road - Her name is Bekka. She won't be back from maternity for 2 more weeks but there are a ton of other stylists that are awesome if you can't wait that long. The salon number is ###-###-####.

Hey! Check out Prive at Millenia. I know its not in Winterpark, but I see Val and she is fabulous! I am such a hair snob and have finally after 3 years of living here found her. She does all the models hair for fashion shows around Orlando. About 70 for cut and style! Hope this helps.

Hey K.,
I live in Winter Park and go to Matthew Michael's Salon Experience on Corrine (it's an Aveda Salon). It's technically in Orlando, but on the edge of Winter Park close to Lieu Gardens. Currently, I go to Gary, but have used other stylists there and have always been very happy with my cut and color. I have sent many friends (and my husband) there and they always say the same thing--"one of the best cuts they have ever had."

Hi K.!
My mother in law has crazy curly hair and has been seeing a guy in Winter Park for years that she just loves! His name is Rick and the salon is the "Salon Off Park" on E. New England Ave. The # is ###-###-####.
Good luck! I know how tough it is to find someone you can trust with your hair (whether its straight or curly!) but it must be even harder with really curly hair.

I know how you feel when it comes to unrully curly hair. I have been going to two hair dressers but they are near the Universal Studios area. One is Janet, ###-###-#### she is at Sand Lake and Dr. Phillips area. I have been using her for the last 15 years. The other one is Traci, ###-###-#### she is located at Kirkman Road and Arnold Palmer Road (Metro West). I normallyuse her when Jane is not available.

If you go to Janet let her know that Nory (From Publix) sent you.

Good Luck!

I have curly hair. A curly haired gal needs a hair stylist trained in cutting curly hair. It's different than straight hair. I go to Trish at Hair Systems in Altamonte Springs. She's amazing. She was trained in New York in the Curlisto technique. Me and a lot of my curly haired pals go to her. She's a master.

Here's her website: http://www.hair-systemsfl.com/

Hi, K.:

I am a California-licensed cosmetologist writing just to give you some advice. Be very careful who you go to out here as cosmetologists have to go for less hours in Florida than some states and no longer have a practical (actually doing the procedures) exam along with the written exam to get their license. Also, from talking to different stylists since moving to FL seventeen years ago (I do hair now only for friends and family and keep up my license for the products...I keep current with industry magazines and industry web sites), there is no push in schools out here to have people learn to work on a variety of types of hair, ethnic hair, etc. That is a shame! We had to work on ALL types of hair, and, I believe, that was a very good thing to not limit us and to give us more of a true understanding about the differences in hair. However, all of this said, THERE ARE STILL VERY GOOD STYLISTS OUT HERE, but you have to search for "career stylists" verses "job stylists"!!!

My recommendation to you (after going on my tangent...LOL) is to have someone run a smoothing solution on your hair, to make it more manageable and attractive. I'm not saying to do something that is not YOU (re: stick straight!) or something with a horrible upkeep (some of the more intense straightening products), but something that helps in keep the "crazy curly unruly" hair more wavy, uniform, and pretty. Matrix has a product (the name escapes me right now) that I have used on my niece's Latin unruly hair a few times, and it did a beautiful job. Also, her hair can take a curl with irons or blowing drying techniques and use a straightening iron if she wants a straight look (unlike other smoothing products that do so much damage you cannot use irons...or simply will not take a curl and will fall stick straight). If she air-dries her hair, it is simply wavy and shiny.

I hope this helps a little! Good luck to you!
