Rule of thumb. Never dry something in the dryer if it has a stain on it. The heat sets the stain in. What I do is spray with Oxi Clean and let it set a few minutes. Put a drop of Dawn liquid on it and rub it in then throw it in the washer. It works like a charm. Took ink out of my husbands shirt, grease and hydrolic fluid out of his clothes, blood out of clothes. I haven't run accross a stain yet that I haven't been able to get out. If the stain doesn't come out in the first washing I do not dry it in the dryer and hang it up to dry. Next time I do laundry I treat it again. Marker usually takes about three washings to come completely out but it will come ou.

go to crayola.com. they have a section there for stain removal for ALL of their products and it usually works regardless of the brand of marker (crayon, paint, etc.). believe it or not wd-40 is one of their most effective stain removers. follow their directions to a 2 and you should be good to go.

Try GooGun with some cotton, it works wonders on so many things. They sell it at Walmart or any gorcery store, home depot. Very handy at home especially if you tried everything else.

H.,

I use a product that takes out everything. I have used it for red wine, marker, lipstick, baby formula, etc. It's the greatest. It's only available online and the website is www.sindelar-international.ltdteam.com and you can use the password beauty. The home products are found under the other tab. It works and comes with a money back guarantee.

Good luck,

S.

Try hairspray. But it also depends on the type of fabric. I wouldn't use it on toole fabric. cotton it is fine.

Try rubbing alcohol. I know for certain that it works in taking out ink from pens, so it might work for the marker too. You can dab it on with a cotton ball & rub if you'd like or you can do like I do - pour some right over the stain, let it soak for about 10 minutes & throw it in the wash. It also takes hair color stains out of my clothes (I am a hairstylist so I should know.) No need to worry - it won't bleach the colors out of the fabric. I use it to take grease stains out sometimes. My little 18 month old got ahold of my lip gloss & painted all over my bedspread with it & guess what, A little bit of rubbing alcohol & that came out too.

i'm with brandi and lenc.... just last weekend i removed a permanent marker line (black sharpie) from my fiance's dress shirt by spraying hairspray, blotting, spraying hairspray, blotting, etc. it takes patience, but it will come out. just don't rub or, like someone else said, put it in the dryer before the stain is invisible.
good luck!

Have you tried acetone? I know it will remove pen ink. You can find it in the drugstore near the nail polish remover.

Try those new Tide stain removers (it comes in a little disolveable pack). I had a chocolate stain on white shorts that wen thru the washer and dryer twice and stain remained. I used the stain pack, and it came out - even after going through the dryer twice.

H.- My miracle stain remover is Spray N Wash DUAL POWER. It comes in a divided bottle, pink liquid in 1 half and whiteish liquid on the other half. Squeeze it on the stain - leave it for 5 mins and lightly scrub if needed and it should remove it. WASH it immediately afterwards.

It has even removed old set in stains for me. ALWAYS wash and soak in COLD water only. Even if you have to leave it for 48 hours - it normally WILL come out. I learned that trick from the lady who runs our laundromat.

Good luck

Like everyone said - don't put it in the dryer until the stain comes out!
I've had good luck with hairspray and ink. When my daughter was a baby, I bought a plastic rubbermaid dishpan, and I soak stuff in it until it's time to do laundry, and then I just empty the whole thing into the washer with a regular load. Recently, I've been using the new Tide Stain Release gel packs, I just fill the tub and toss in her first white uniform shirt at the beginning of the week, and add a shirt each day. When the weekend comes, I just dump the tub into the washer, add the normal laundry detergent (Tide) and have had pretty good results. The only stain that I recently had a little trouble with, was the red clay (dirt) from the playground. A friend of mine said that she soaks her boys clothes in Cascade (dishwasher detergent) and she has had excellent results with clay from the ball field, snow cones, and even green crayon that went through the wash with white uniform shirts! She actually put one of the shirts in the dishwasher and the dried on melted crayon came right out! I just tried soaking in Cascade for the first time when my daughter came home with red marker or paint on her white uniform shirt the other day, and it faded away before my eyes! Good luck!
