Since my husband lost his job (about a year and half) I have done my own hair color, I am not very good so it never was wow, but good enough to cover my grays.
My husband just got a bonus in his new job so we were celebrating and he wanted me to do something nice for my self and I decide have my hair "professional" done.
I bring an old picture when I had my hair light brown (for the past 3 years I was dark brown) and the lady said ok but she need it to bleach it, I say ok.
When she finish my hair was bleach blond! Not blonde, bleach blond. The whole process took 6 hours so at that point I just wanted to go home.
I came back today and I told her that this was not even close to the picture, of course she said that she thinks so, I ask her to make it darker (I bring the picture again) so she did and at the end it was light orange!!!!!!!!!
I don't even want the woman near my hair again, I think that she just don't know what she is doing, she maybe new, I don't know.
I want to run to my nearest Walmart and get a hair color but I am afraid that my hair would fall.
How long should I wait? Which is the most "kind" hair color for damage hair?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks Ladies,
My husband also thinks that I should talk to the manager, but I think the person that did my hair have not clue what she is doing and when I came back today she kept telling me she did what i ask even if I had the picture in front of her. I think I am going to call and see if I can get any of my money back but I totally don't want her near my hair, and I will post a review so other people know to be careful.
This is the last time I got to a place without references. :0(
I will buy the Aussie repair and then try to find the Nutritint in 2 weeks.

I don't have any suggestions really except that since money is tight, I wouldn't just walk away from this...I would contact the owner/manager of the salon and tell/show them what happened and say you want it fixed at no extra cost. Just because this chick doens't know what she's doing doesn't mean you should end up with a crappy hair color! Good luck!!!

If you used a credit card at the salon, call the creditor and tell them what happened and that you want a halt put on the payment until the matter is rectified. Then call the salon ask for the manager or go in person, and tell them that you've contacted the credit card and ask them to do the right thing by fixing your hair to your specifications. If you paid cash, you will just have to try to stick to getting them to "take care" of you. If it is a "chain" type of beauty salon, contact headquarters...they don't want a negative from the Better Business Bureau, so they should help you right away. Best of Luck. PS.--- Always go to a place where you have actually seen work done or by a friend's referral.

K so I am the person you should be talking to because I am in a similar situation right now. So this is what is going on with your hair. If your hair is dark you can't just put a lighter hair color on because it won't show up on top of the dark so she was right in telling you she had to bleach it first. It's actually called back tracking. Taking out all the old color first. But over the counter hair dye is pretty damaging to your hair and when she bleached it out you probably ended up with different streaks and shades of yellow/orange in your hair due to all the times you have colored it. Kind of like a coloring history showing up. So once your hair is striped of the color again it is damaging and even adding a new color to it now is hard on your hair cause it basically needs a little time to heal. So putting a dark brown on this bleached hair isn't really going to take. For me they just back tracked it last week (mine was black and I want a chocolate brown) Like you it was then blond and they didn't even put a real color on it because they new it wouldn't take so they put on what's called a PM Shine that was dark brown. It turned my hair a brown, orange, blond color but they told me this would happen. Then they said I needed to wait about 2 to 3 weeks for my hair to heal and then I can come in and they can put a color on it. By then my hair will take the color and it will look nice. I'm really surprised she didn't tell you any of this? Maybe she new how to do the back tracking but then didn't understand how to color it afterward. So don't go get hair dye from the store...it won't help. I would just call now and make an appointment (at a different salon cause she doesn't seem very good) And have your hair colored in about 2 weeks. I actually only have about a week 1/2 left. I've been wearing a hat alot. LOL I know it sucks but your hair will get better and be nice again. Also it's good to use lots of deep conditioning treatments on your hair to help repair it. The salon I went to actually gave me some for free cause they felt so bad for me having to do all this to my hair. I even have put the conditioner on and slept with it all night to really help it soften up. So you should do that too. It will help.

Go to the health store and buy Nutritint. It's very gentle. It's the most natural out there and I have used it for years. It covers the gray very well. There are pictures on the side of the box that show what the color will look like depending on what color your hair presently is..It's not an exact science because there's not bleach in it but you have all the bleach you need, lol. I actually think it looks better than when a professional does it...

M.

I would call the salon and ask to talk to the Salon Mgr. Tell she or he what happened in a nice and calm way then ask them this question? Also let them know how unhappy you are with the outcome of your hair color. Maybe they will be willing to fix it for you or at least tell you when you can recolor it without having it all fall out, like you said. If they are a good salon they will want to keep you happy and coming bk. I wish you luck

Your hair won't fall out, unless you keep using bleach products in it. I have had similar problems in the past years. I would definitely recommend calling that salon and talking to the owner. They should either fix your hair or refund your money. I totally understand if you don't want to contact the salon, I would be worried they would make it worse too. The longer you wait to put more product in your hair the better. I'm extremely impatient so when my aunt(beautician for 30 something years) told me a few weeks ago to wait a month or so to try to fix my hair I only lasted a few days and went to the store for some dye! My favorite hair color brand is Revlon, cheap and works good. Avoid the colors with Ash, it has a greater chance of turning your hair orange/red. I also recommend a deep condition treatment once a week. good luck

I'd think you'd have to wait at least a few days (if not weeks) to let you hair rest before anything else is done with it.
Maybe you could try something different. You can get a very nice brown color by using henna and indigo.
Here is the 'easy brunette':

Other colors and how to get them are here:

My original color is brown but some gray is creeping in.
I started using henna 5 years ago, and I get a chestnut auburn color with the gray becoming coppery highlights.
My hair is not fried from all kinds of chemicals, I have no spilt ends and I'm growing it longer now than I ever could before (past bra strap).
The forum at the Henna for Hair site is very helpful, and they are very good about answering questions. It might be more than what you want to try, but it's nice to know there are other ways to get a nice hair color.

Just to add - they might not give you your money back so insit that they continue to cut and colr your hair for free (done by the manager) until it's back to it's regular condition.

Good luck!!

One thing I used to get my hair back to good after bleaching it is Aussie's 3 minute miracle conditioner. It really helps your hair.
