I know lots of photographers use the Grapevine botanical gardens. I think you need a permit to shoot there. Good Luck! B.
Hi there! I see that several of you are photographers here in the area. I recently opened my own studio. I prefer shooting on location, however, I just moved back to Texas from South Carolina where every place you see is a good spot for shooting. When I lived in Texas before I didn't really do more than shoot at local parks. I am really looking for some good locations to take my clients when we aren't shooting studio work. I do have a website but it is very basic. I am looking for a good host and some ideas on how to make it more professional. For now I use my myspace to showcase my work until my website looks better. Anyone that can help will be my new hero!! Thanks a million!
Blessings,
R.~

Thank you ladies SO much for all of your input! You are awesome!! You helped me find several locations which me and my partners are going to visit Thursday. I haven't decided on web hosting yet because it all looks so complicated. I have to watch my spending and can't buy a web design just yet so I need something I can create myself for the time being. But I am still checking into all of the web hosts you all told me about. Wish me luck! I will definitely let you all know what my website is when I get it up and running!!
Hugs,
Becki~

There is a terrific park in Coppell north of the DFW airport. It is called the Grapevine Natural Reserve and is on OLD Bethel Rd between Beltline and Freeport. It's hidden on the south side in between big homes. It has old wooden bridges, a well, a stream, old rock steps and big beautiful trees. Just watch for trashcans sneaking into pictures, but you will find it to be a terrifc place for picnics and pictures! Enjoy.
Hey R.,
Just a quick little note because I've got to get out the door.
Fort Worth Botanic Gardens are great - their fees are $25 per hour in lower rose gardens and $75 in the Japanese Gardens (if you're working with a paying client).
Some local parks I like to use are Parr park in Grapevine and Bear Creek Park in Keller.
I also like the Stockyards in downtown Fort Worth, and Main Street in Grapevine. I'm always looking for new locations. I receive a monthly newsletter from Arlington Camera and in the last one they were compiling a list of locations (I'm dying to get my hands on)... check it out.
I host through IX Web Hosting and use BluDomain for my web design. You can get a site and hosting from BluDomain I think for around $200. YOU CAN'T BEAT IT! www.bludomain.com
Here's my site, www.dfwexpressions.com. I'm happy to answer other questions, but I've got to get going. Congrats on the new business and best of luck!

check out www.PhotBiz.com for your website. We just hired a photographer and in our search noticed several photographers use this site to build their websites. Looks very professional, not sure about pricing though.
Grapevine Springs park in Coppell is great. They have a bridge, stairs and a little gazebo.

Welcome back to Texas!
Hi R., I also recently moved to Texas from the south. We lived in South Carolina and Georgia. I love photograpphy too and even had a business in Atalnta. Anyway...my daughter goes to Texas Woman's University in Denton and there is a beautiful garden area out behind her dorm. I haven't even seen it in the spring yet (She started in Jan) but even in the winter it is so pretty. Paths and steps, greenery and water areas. Hope that helps!
My family hasn't lived in Texas long but I think the most beautiful place I've seen so far is Fort Worth Botanic Garden.
We went in the Fall and got some stunning, natural scenery pictures. We can't wait to go again when Spring fully arrives.
