T.,
I know from most unfortunate experience, that once their there, your likely always to have them return! The trick is not only getting rid of it now, but also taking the steps to not let them come back frequently or...gasp...get worse! I agree with lots of the tricks described below.
May I suggest some preventive measures for when this one is gone? Make sure you are getting enough fiber, whole grain fiber, veggies, etc. Also, consider taking an omega-3 supplement everyday. not only is it great for your heart, but helps keeps you digestive system running smoothly. Yogurts are great, one's like Activia are awesome. Just make sure to read the ingredients and avoid any of the many that have high fructose corn syrup. You may also want to condsider lessening the amount of red meat and dairy products you have in your diet. These are harder to digest, which, excuse the imagery, also means they are harder to process out their waste. The idea of avoiding hemorroids and avoiding making them worse is to make sure your diet allows to you have softer stools that don't cause you to strain.
Hope any of this helps. Good luck ridding yourself of this really painful, oh so private experience most of us can relate to!
