Hemorrohoids

I know this is a subject nobody likes to talk about, but I've got to know.....
Does anyone have any successful, non-surgical remedies for hemorrohoids?
I carried both of my kids very low and the pressure caused hemorrohoids which the drs assured me would go away shortly after delivering if I kept my diet in check and made sure not to "strain", etc. I eat tons of fruits and vegetables, so am generally pretty regular and soft (sorry if that's TMI). I work out 6 days a week and am not overweight(size 4/6)so that's not a contributing factor either. Anyway....over a year after my 2nd child, they are still lingering and am tired of waiting for them to go away and feeling like I can't get "clean". I've tried Prep H, witch hazel, etc. Is this one of those things I just have to accept? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....sorry for the long post!

I had them after giving birth. My mom is always giving me home remedies and told me to try Rutin. It is found in a vitamin/mineral store. It worked within a week! I tell everyone who has a baby. It worked like a miracle. Try it!

I actually had the same problem. With my first I got them and didn't even birth vaginally. With the second and vanginal birth, they were so bad, it seemed as though she had come out the wrong way. I had no stitches vaginal but almost needed them rectally. I tried diet for this and many other issues, also homeopathy with only some comforting but no true relief until I found a new nutritional products that I started for my other issues and relized a couple months later they were completely gone and I have had no trouble for 6 months. Good Luck! G. Chambers

I have had them too. Mine eventually went away. My friend, however, had to have medical help. She suffered for two years with hers, and they never did get better and she had the same feeling you have about keeping clean. She went to the Center for Colorectal Health in Chicago, but there are offices in Wheaton too, I think. It's www.crhcenter.com if you want to look it up. They do a procedure called "banding" and it is non-surgical and painless. At least that's what she told me. I wouldn't continue to suffer if you don't have to! You should be enjoying your kids and life!

yes!! I work for a surgeon at dreyer medical clinic in aurora Illinois. Her name is dr.Kouvelis and she does injections in the office for hermorrhoids. she has been successfully doing them for years in california and 1 year here. pt's usually are given injections and then come back in approximately 3 months if needed or advised. she is often able to do it this way. of course, she has to see you and evaluate. If you are a candidate, she does it then. good luck. the number is ###-###-#### to schedule an appt

This is not one of the things you have to accept. There is a wonderful book that I use for natural healing called the Green Pharmacy. While witch hazel is wonderful often it is not enough to help heal the hemorrhoids.

Comfrey in the powdered form and moisten with virgin cold pressed coconut oil. Coconut oil has so many healing benefits and properties and also ingest 3 TBSP a day which will release natural immune healing properties. Plantain also works in the same form as comfrey. Aloe vera gel is another wonderful topical solution. You can also add one or two drops of essential oils to your topical such as lemon, lavender, juniper or rosemary.

It may be as simple as your body is in an acidic state. these herbs and combination's are very alkalizing.

I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

This does not sound fun, but then what about hemorroids is? I know several people who have had non-surgical relief from using vitamin E gelcaps as a suppository. I believe that everything we need to cure ourselves can probably be found in some form on our planet. I know there are some cases out there that are too severe for simple remedies, but I wanted my husband to try eerything else first, before surgery, and right now he is using vitamin E and having success with it. Good luck to you! :)

Aren't they awful? I dreaded going to the bathroom. The funny thing is is that I didn't realize I had them until it was really unbearable. I would rather go through childbirth over and over, than that! I really do not know how they went away. I was suffering though. I just started making sure I was eating really well, and using Cottonelle wipes after I went to the bathroom, and I guess that helped. I hope you can get rid of them.

My OB said that what I have left are just "tags" and that I should not do anything about them until after I am done have kids because they will just come back. When needed, he said I could do the "banding" that others have mentioned. Mine are no longer painful, just flaps of skin that won't go away on their own.

Have you taken regular hot baths? I actually had this problem well before I had kids and the hot baths helped the most. You only need a couple inches of the hottest water you can handle. If you can, do it a couple times a day. Hard for a mom, I know, but it helps. When I was PG and had them, my gyne said to use Cortizone Cream...I didn't try it, but it might help. Or, there are prescription creams that work better than the OTC, but you'll have to go to a doctor for those.

I too, was a silent sufferer for years; but, have found a simple natural product that I've used with great success. Witch Hazel. You can buy the cheaper brand at walmart or the dollar stores, works the same, looks like rubbing alcohol. Just place alot on toilet paper, and cleanse thoroughly, few times a day. After a few weeks you'll notice the difference. It actually shrinks hemmoroid tissue. Maybe you didn't use it long enough.

Try Nupercainal, that lessens the pain associated with them. As for non-surgical ways to get rid of them, there are none. Telling you to get used to them seems harsh and I'm sorry but you will just have to get used to them. =( I know what you mean about not feeling clean however especially if you are somewhere other than home so my best advice is to carry wipes with you. Not baby wipes but treated wipes for hemorroid sufferers.

Good luck!

The preperation H suppositories seem to work for me when I have flare ups but right after I had each of my 2 kids the dr. gave me a prescription medication that helped (it was a suppository cream). You should probably talk to your dr. about getting a Rx instead of the over the counter if they are that bad.

I hope this helps.

so you've had them for years? I did the perscription thing a few times and they eventually went back 'in'. For pain i followed a recommendation out here Vicks Vapor rub. One thing i noticied, when i work out they get WORSE. I wonder if maybe you are a runner... try doing something else for a week and see if that makes a dif. good luck

Hi!
I know this is a very obvious question but how much water are you consuming a day?
If your water intake is adequate then you are like me and my mother in law (we are all about the same size) and I think they are going to stick around for a while. I'm sorry to say. I even looked into getting them surgically removed but I guess that actually makes them worse. I would take stretch marks over hemorrohoids ANY day!! I feel your pain. But water is the only factor I can think of.

If you gently cover ther with a light coat of the PrepH, you can gently push them back up where they belong (without to much pain). Then a light coat around everywhere they "touched" when they were out. Surgery is an option also. Good luck.

I tried all the above as well and they did not help me after the delivery of my son either. I found success with a cream called Nupracanial for hemorrhoids, itching, etc. It was recommended to me by a surgeon to try and it worked. I found it at Walgreen's.

I don't think they just go away without surgery. You can do things to keep flare-ups minimal. There is a tube that you can insert Prep H which sometimes eases the swelling better than just externally. If you sit at a desk all day, that's not good. Your body position at the desk places pressure on that area. Standing for long periods will aggravate them. No matter what you do all day, make sure you sit down at night and ellevate your legs to ease the pressure. Unfortuantely it's not an easy area for healing. Keep your exercise moderate and get off your feet if you have discomfort. It may take awhile but eventually you should have some relief. If not, see the doc about surgery.

They are awful! I had a big problem with them after I had my kids (all 4). My doctor told me to use Vaseline as PrepH was not good to use. I did however end up getting them banded. I haven't had any issues since then. Banding is done in the office (at least at my docs). It is one two three. It pinched for a second while he put the band on, but after it was fine. No more uncomfortable then the hemmorroids. What the banding does is just stop the blood flow to the roid and eventually that end will shrivel off. Sounds gross but, honestly you don't even know when they fall off. Good luck. I would do the banding if they are bad. He also suggested taking Metamucel daily.

My doctor also recommended the non surgical, in office banding but they are internal so not sure if that would work for you as it sounds like yours are external. One of the negatives pregnancy does to your body. What a drag huh but worth it. Good luck!

Use betadine mixed with water. You mix it and just squirt it and wipe dry. It really helps. Rinse well with it morning and night. Dr recommended to me. Along with Dermacaine spray for pain and or itch. Totally helped. There are a few other things that are like herb related too. But above helped well.

I have had six removed in my doctor's office. It wasn't really surgery but he just put a tight rubber band around them, and they fell off the next day. It is the healthiest way to remove them and doesn't leave a scar. The only annoying part is it makes you feel like you have to go for about twenty minutes- just a little discomfort from a tight rubber band- no pain. It really works! (By the way, this is only for the internal kind) For the external kind, I paid attention to the foods that give me hemmoroids (usually the next day) and I don't usually get them.

My advice is never use toilet paper. Target sells a generic brand of Hemorrohoid wipes that have witch hazel in them. They're soft and moist like baby wipes yet flushable. These wipes get you really clean (which eliminates the itch) and are very delicate on that area. My husband and I both keep our roids in check with these. I've had the banding procedure done but they still come back. i think once you get them you are prone to having them so the best bet is to keep doing what you're doing, eat plenty of fiber don't stand for long periods of time and use the wipes! Good luck.
