I have a friend who just found out she has herpes. She is devastated and is not handling it very well. She seems to think that there is a natural cure out there somewhere. Does anyone know if this is true?

Hi there,

I would tell her to try looking on

earthclinic.com

Other than that, I believe that I've read that oregano oil (available in dropper bottles or capsules) is effective against herpes.

Best wishes and blessings

Herpes is a virus and life long! There are things you can do to manage it, but it will never truly go away.... :(

HPV doesn't cause herpes (re:previous post).

About 40% of the adult population in the US has genital herpes. Many more have oral herpes. There are great medications for this that keep things under control.

Go to the doctor and get some Valtrex, and no, there absolutely is no cure for herpes.

While there is no cure for herpes, she can control the outbreaks naturally using enzymes such as L-Lysyne. There are many types of herpes and there are certain ones which contribute to cervical cancer so she will want to address that with her doctor. The sad thing is herpes can lay dormant for many years and show it's ugly head later on in life. I was recenlty diagnosed with cervical cancer and was told that 95 percent of cervical cancer is due to herpes. I have been with my husband for 12 years and neither of us has cheated. The doctor said it was not unheard of for herpes to lay dormant for that long. I was lucky that I did not have herpes and that the cervical cancer was detected in time for surgical treatment without further invasive treatment. There are no tests for a man and it is possible that he did not even know he had it as it can spread reguardless of outbreak. A papsmear can detect it in woman if it is vaginal herpes and a papsmear is extremely important to do often now that she has herpes.

Hi BKL,

There are no cures for any of the herpes viruses but there are things that will inhibit the outbreaks. L-Lysine is an amino acid that is already supposed to be in your body and will keep the outbreaks to a minimum. If she had enough in her system it might have been possible to prevent contracting the disease so this is a red flag that her immune system is low. There is also a product from Enzymedica called Viro-stop that is basically digestive enzymes but it will also keep the outbreaks to a minimum as well. She does need to get her immune system up and running properly and that can entail changing a few things in her lifestyle. I can help with that if she wants to talk. I'll be happy to help. She can also consult an ND and they can help her as well.

Please reassure her that this is controllable. She just needs to get the right information.

Regards,

M.

Go into the Mayo Clinic website and she can find out more information about Herpes. There is a vaccine for Human Papilloma Virus that can cause genital warts but she needs to go to a gynocologist so that she can be properly diagnosed and medicated.

There is NO natural cure for Herpes. There are many supplement companies on the internet that may mislead her to believe that there is a natural cure. Tell her to get medical advise as soon as possible.

* HPV does not cause Herpes as I had previously stated. Thank you Anneka.

I am so sorry that this has now come into her life. To let you know, there is NO Cure for Herpes!!! No medical cure & no natural cure. There are medical supressent therapy that will reduce the number of outbreaks a year, but no medical cure. She can take immune system boosters and reduce stress and this will decrease her number of outbreaks a year, but she still has it... Again there is NO CURE! Please BEWARE a person can spread herpes even when they are not having an outbreak. This is where most cases get spread. Actually Herpes is more common than many realize. The new stats state that 44% of the adult population is HSV positive. The reason condoms are so important!! Prevention is the only thing. Now that she has it, it will be a life long issue, but one she can live with. I am sorry!!! It is something she really needs to note though. It will affect how she is treated when /if she gets ready to have babies. I do hope she threw the guy under the bus who gave it to her. He knew he was positive and made the choice not to tell her. I think that relationship is not worth staying in. He HAD to know regardless of what he says... If he did not tell her something as important as that, what else is he keeping from her? I would not chance that relationship.
Back to your orginal question..... NO IT IS NOT TRUE! There is NO CURE.
In regards to HPV.... Yes the correction is correct. There is no link between HPV and HSV. Totally different STDs. Do know that almost 54% of women have HPV though. HPV is the leading cause of Ovarian Cancer. The reason HPV is so common is because it goes without symptoms in the males and is not harmful to them at all. So they spread it to women without knowing it. Many women who now are coming up with Abnormal PAPs are being tested for HPV, because we are finding they go hand in hand....
Good luck to your friend and please tell her to ALWAYS be honest with everyone she sleeps with now. Actually please just make sure condoms are always used.

There is NO cure for genital herpes (or oral herpes -fever blisters). It can be controlled fairly well with Valtrex, but once you have it -you have it. Tell her to google some info about it. A shockingly high percentage of the population has genital herpes! Even more have oral herpes or both. I wouldn't be happy if I got it either, but there are medications to help control it and it's not deadly. She really needs to sit down with her gynecologist and discuss it.

I doubt it. I think she needs to see her M.D. or gynecologist as soon as possible. They can explain what options there are. (I am assuming this is not shingles or cold sores....)

There is not a natural cure by it can be controlled by medicines such as valtrex. I have a girlfriend who has had it for years and this seems to minimize her breakouts. It is a virus that stays in the bloodstream and there is no cure for it. I am sorry that happened to her. She needs to make sure now to let her future partners know, use the medicine and use condoms. It sucks but that is the truth of it.

I feel for your friend. I made it all the way through dating in college without having contracted an std. Then I met the man of my dreams and he informed me he had herpes. Grrrr..... At any rate, we have been happily married for 15 years and I have had three vaginal births without any complications to the babies. I did contract herpes a few years into our marriage. My ob was aware and there are things you can do to prevent your babies from getting it. It sucks, it's painful, and it is scary, but it isn't the end of the world. It could be cancer! Hope this helps.

Herpes is incurable but you hear commercials on tv for treatments to manage it so hopefully she will find something that works for her. Just counsel her to steer clear of quack remedies that promise to be cures.

I encourage your friend, and eveyone who answered, to check out this website: www.miraclemineral.org

I have had herpes simplex all my life (chickin pox as a kid) and whenever I had a fever or spent too much time in the sun I would get a cold sore/fever blister on my mouth or in my nose. Not fun, not pretty and I used every drug they make to help me through it, but as you all know, drugs only treat the symptoms. About five years ago I learned about Miracle Mineral and Jim Humbles' story. I took this for about a week and followed directions. I have not had a fever blister since. That is because Miracle Mineral kills viruses. I am only relating my experience but there are many more in his book. You can actually make this yourself (I prefer to order it already mixed). He has made the formula available to anyone who wants it because the drug companies were not interested and tried to suppress it. Good luck.

There are natural things you can do to prevent viral shedding. Getting the right amount of rest, eating lysine rich foods (which you get mostly from meat), and managing stress levels through various means like meditation or setting aside time to relax. Be aware that during PMS seems to be a common time for an outbreak. Wearing breatheable fabric underwear and not going commando also seems to have some preventative benefits for whatever mysterious reason. However, since the virus lives in the nervous system and most drugs do not penetrate the barrier that protects your brain from harm, there is currently no cure. I've lived with the virus for the past 15 years now. The number of outbreaks do, thankfully, decrease the longer you've had the virus. I'm down from 6-8 outbreaks a year to 1 or sometimes 2 without ANY medication, since I'm allergic to the ones they advertise on television. Getting a prescription strength lidocaine cream or gel will help with pain management when an outbreak is occurring.
