Okay, so I'm procrastinating. A boring day of chores and work I'm avoiding. I end up drifting into activities that are just distractions - not meaningful work and not meaningful play. Before I know it, it's time to pick up the kids and I feel neither rested nor accomplished.
So, what is your favorite way take off a day purposefully and/or what is your favorite way to motivate yourself.
It's already 10:30 and I'm neither here nor there!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It feels good just to hear others get in the same way. I keep waiting for something exciting to happen on the board so I can justify my distraction! LOL! But I have decided to start the painting I want to give my husband for Christmas - it's rather large and so I really do need to get going on it! So there, I've justified something I WANT to do as something I HAVE to do…

You've got a head start on me. I was very industrious yesterday, and if I had my wishes, I'd be in bed, in my pjs, watching a marathon of Pride and Prejudice and sipping something warm and yummy.

Doing some sewing always makes me feel good. Upstairs, it gets very cozy with the iron on and I run my Perry Mason dvds on Play All in the background. Kind of work and pleasure all in one.

Motivation? I do well with a good list which has some niceties thrown in (alternating drudge work with little pleasures like 'take half hour break to read/cup of tea') and checking them off as they are done.

All that said, I am still in fleece pjs and need to get dressed to take Kiddo to school. If someone can motivate me to want to step out into the freezing weather and explain to me how walking on black ice to school will be rewarding, (besides kiddo being at school) let me know!

If I'm taking a day off - I start a good book, I take a nap, whatever. :)

To motivate myself, I set mini-deadlines. If I do X until 10:00, then I give myself a 10 minute break to play online, or do whatever. Then after I accomplish Y, I can have another little break.

Where does the day go????? Um, if I've got the day off, I take the day off. Either sleep in, or mong in front of the idiot box, or do something for me, outside of the house. No guilt.

If I've got a 1/2 day off, then its run through the chores, and take the me time, or vice versa.

Time is precious, so is a feeling of peace and tranquility. If you have the margin to have a purposeless day, acknowedge that this happens to be one, and be alright with it. Otherwise get your butt into gear and either hard core enjoy or hardcore get on with things.

Best,
F. B.

Funny, I'm feeling the same way today! :) It is so cold this morning...16 degrees and I've been out with the dog a couple of times and done some basic work around here, but I need to get motivated too!!

I will get myself up to exercise here in a few minutes and I know that will help...I usually do a 30 minute workout DVD and it really does help get me motivated and give me more energy!

Once in a really great while I will watch a movie that just "I" want to watch like When Harry Met Sally or another old favorite or a new one that only I have been wanting to see. Sometimes after a couple hours of "me" time, I feel ready to tackle everything else!! :)

Glad I'm not the only one like this today!! :)
