What are the homeschooling procedures in Utah and in how many days will my daughter be homeschooled? My district won't give me a tutor but my sister is willing to pay for one (she makes alot).

What can I do next?

Try googling "Utah" and "homeschool". There are tons of sites that provide this type of information. But why pay a tutor? That's not exactly homeschooling. Could you do a private school if you have the money to spend instead?

FIRST OF ALL Check www.hslda.org (Home School Legal Defense Association) you can find all legalities/rules there for each state. You seem very confused, you need to read this site to clarify some concepts and laws about homeschooling.

As I understand the way it goes, you have to be accountable to someone who has credibility to determine if your child is learning their age level information. My friend took her kids once per month or so to the college testing center and they took the tests for the material they were supposed to be covering for that time period. If they didn't pass they could get into trouble for truancy I think.

That's why you have to be able to prove to anyone and everyone that your child is actually doing the work they would be doing at school but are now supposedly doing it at home.

So you need to contact this website and see what they have to say. I googled how to home school in Utah and got hundreds of thousands of responses.

I can't give you Utah rules. But general rules are that the parents become the teacher. Many states require that you prove that the child is learning the required stuff for his/her grade level. Your daughter would be homeschooled clear through highschool and then get her GED. Of course you can choose to quit homeschooling at any time and enter the public or private school systems.

A tutor is not required for homeschooling, but I'm sure that if it's a subject that she needs to learn for state requirements you can get a tutor if you don't have the ability to teach that subject.

Homeschooling is a choice to remain out of 'normal' school systems. Not a choice to teach at home 3 days a week and send to school the other 2 days.

Many states/towns have homeschooling groups that could give you more information than I can. Plus as others mentioned, make good use of Google.

As far as I know no district gives you a tutor. If you want to homeschool you will be the one responsible for your child's education. That's the whole point.

Since most of us do not live in Utah, nor home school, your best bet would be a google search. Or call the school district, they can probably guide you to a website.
