Hi. My daughter has been fully potty trained since she was 3. She is 3 months shy of being 6. All of a sudden this Winter she began wetting her bed. I make sure she has enough blankets, turn on the central heater, and get up at night to make sure she's ok. She's not cold. I make her go to the restroom and pee right before bed. When she awakes in the morning, she's wet. She says she cannot feel when she's peeing at night. I don't know what to do. Should I take her to the doctor? Is this a medical condition? There is nothing major happening in our life either, so it can't be due to changes in our life. What could be wrong? Need advice. Getting pretty tired of washing blankets on a daily basis.

What can I do next?

Hi R.,
As the mom of 5, one was a bedwetter. She slept so soundly that she did not feel it or wake up.
Ironically, she is the one that did not sleep thru the night until she was 9 months old either.
We had to make sure she had no liquids 2 to 3 hours before bed.
I woke up different times at night to check on her to see if there was a pattern of when she was wet.
I ended up waking her up 3 hours into her sleep, and then again in another 3 hours. She fell back to sleep like a rock and this took a while, but she did stop wetting the bed, There is not quick fix for this as these kids tend to sleep through anything. Also, i'm sure you are not making her feel bad about it, that only makes things worse and her feeling bad about herself.
DO take her to the dr to rule out a bladder infection, she could be wiping wrong.....

Dear R.,
With our daughter, we first stopped liquids 1-2 hours before her bedtime. We also made sure she wasn't drinking milk before bed because milk contains l-tryptophan and that induces sleep at a deeper level. We used the nighttime pull-ups as well. She grew out of this by about 9 years of age. We always made sure to reinforce how this was perfectly normal for deep sleepers! Hope this helps!

Dear R.;
Try to manage her liquids intake before going to bed.
also that is common on some children but it could be a medical condition, so my advice to you is to check with pediatrician. Good Luck.

don't take it personal your daughter will not be doing that all of her life. Get her some pull-up's for the night and that will take away the washing of the bedding everyday. My daughter is 8 years old and is just now getting out of pull-up's, and I wetted the bed until I was 10 years old (I wish they had pull-up's when I was young. Sometimes hard sleepers don't get up to go to the bathroom, and I use to think I was in the bathroom in my sleep and I wake up and just pee in the bed. So get some pull-up's and be done with the washing. She'll be fine.
