How Do You Get Dish Soap Out of Plastic?

I have 3 big plastic cups that have a lid and a straw that I like to use for my drinks during the day so that when Oliver knocks my drink off the table the spill is minimized to a few drops. However, lately whenever I drink out of the cups I can still taste the soap! Yuck.

I hand wash all of our dishes (Unfortunately, Lol) and we use great value dish soap (It works great for the other dishes, just not these plastic cups). I have tried double/triple rinsing the cups immediately after washing them, but by the time I use the cups the taste (And smell) is back. I have tried double/triple rinsing the cups immediately after washing them and then double/triple rinsing them AGAIN right before I use them. This helps for a little bit, but if it takes me more than half an hour or so to drink my drink the taste is back... And I'm the type that likes to just sip drinks all day long, so finishing a drink in half an hour would be a record for me. Lol. I have tried rinsing with extra hot water, and rinsing with extra cold water. Nothing seems to help.

Any tricks that I haven't thought of yet?

P.S Two of these cups are a thinner plastic while the third is a very hard plastic.

What can I do next?

Just a random thought, is it the actual plastic breaking down? Check to make sure these cups are BPA free and check the number on the bottom of the cup. (there is a little number inside a triangle on the bottom) google plastic numbers, there are some that are harmful and are one use plastics (like cool whip containers, etc).
It could be that the cups themselves are the problem. If not, I'd go with the bleach solution.

never tried it but i would think soaking them in a sink of baking soda water would make a huge difference.

Soap is a base as opposed to an acid, so you have to neutralize it with an acid. I would try rinsing the cups in vinegar. That should take care of it.

soak them in vinegar and water or in bleach water to get ri of the smell just don't use alot of bleach let soak for a day. Also I love Palmolive free and clear it doesn't leave the smell or after taste of soap on plastic like many of the other dish soaps do& a little goes along ways

Maybe soak them in a highly diluted bleach solution. (Add a couple of capfuls of bleach to a sink full of water.)

soak 'em in bleach water for about an hour, maybe longer.

Then soak them in hot water for about 10 minutes.

I would use a baking soda solution because it is known to be a clarifier with soap.

Sounds like the issue is the soap, not BPA and depending on when you purchased them, they probably have no BPA anyway. I know the formulations and regulations have recently changed... it is our industry so I'm not just spouting off media hype.
