Car Seat Napping - Safe?

Hello- My now 11 week old has graduated from 'bouncy chair' napping to car seat. I understand some moms do this and doctors recommend it (for acid reflux issues) but am double-checking on the safety of this practice, as I have read articles that the car seat should be used in a car only. Ideally, this should be the case, but I feel sleep is just as important to her well-being. I do not strap her in while she is napping & feel the incline is similar to a bouncy chair. She has been going down in her crib for bedtime (graduated...

Chronic Diahrea in 20 Month Old

My daughter is 20 months old and has chronic diahrea. She has had diahrea pretty much from birth. She has had a very extensive GI workup and they say they cannot figure out what is wrong with her. One GI actually said that some toddlers have diahrea and it gets better about age 5. I had never heard of that and I think that was just an inventitive explanation. We have had her on a gluten free diet as well and still the diahrea did not stop. She was on the gluten free diet for several months. Has anyone had this problem or have ANY idea what...

Constipated 16 Month Old

My son has been getting constipated a lot lately - he will push and push and nothing comes out - we end up having to use a glycerin suppository to get him to poop. We've got him taking flax seed oil - which helped at first but doesn't seem to be making a difference at first. Our doctor recommended the flax see oil, and siad if that doesn't help we should try switching him to soy or rice milk - which I'd rather not do - I've heard soy's really not that great - esp for boys. We've been trying to get extra fuit & veggies into his diet - and...

Sick 8 Month Old Baby Girl, Help!

My 8 month old daughter Layla cannot tolerate any kind of formula, so I strictly breastfeed her and feed her baby food, just straight vegetables and fruits. Well once before I gave her gerber fruit smoothies baby food thinking she would enjoy it, and about 1-2 hours after eating it she got violently sick, vomiting everywhere like she would when she would drink formula. After a few vomiting fits, she becomes very lethargic and goes to sleep. Its extremely scary to watch and ive taken her to the ER several times when she was really young and...

Is Goat's Milk Better for a Cow's Milk Sensitive Toddler?

Hi Moms, My 27-month-old toddler is sensitive to cow's milk and gets eczema and diarrhea when he consumes it. I'm desperate to get him off of Neocate, a specially formulated nondairy "milk", since it is extremely expensive and our insurance stopped covering it a year ago, but have no idea what I can switch him to. I've tried almond milk but he wouldn't drink it and his pediatric GI said rice milk won't give him enough nutrients so now I'm thinking I should try goat's milk. Has anyone had success with goat's milk? I'd eliminate milk...

Need Advice on 10 Month Old Odd Behavior in the Last 24 Hours

We have an odd situation happening with our 10 month old. On Monday - the doctor said she had an ear infection, and started her on Omnicef. Yesterday, between wake up (about 8am) and 1:30pm - she only drank about 2 ounces of formula (she's on Alimentum with rice cereal added). She did eat cereal for breakfast, Yogart and jar of #2 organics for lunch, plus 2 jars of baby food for dinner and 3 oz of formula, last night. But - she vomited a little last night. We revisted the doctor yesterday - to see if anything odd was going on. Doctor...

10 Month Old Coughing.

Hi Moms, For about 3 weeks now my 10.5 month old has been coughing. It started out as a cough only at night and sometimes in the morning. I thought it was actually subsiding the last week and then on Sunday it really started kicking in. It is sometimes wet and sometimes dry. I have brought him to the pediatrician several times and he says it is possibly one of two things; allergies (not asthma because it never progresses to wheezing/hard to breathe) or acid reflux. I think it MAY be acid reflux because he has been fussing during...

Six Month Old in 1St Percentile

I have a six month old baby and she is barely in the 1st percentile on the growth chart. She has barely cleared 12 pounds and it has just been an uphill battle with her from day one. We have already jumped obstacles that include no rooting reflex, constipation, acid reflux coming out her nose, a sinus infection at 10 days old, and colic. She is currently using a speciallty formula because she can't break down the proteins in normal formulas. The formula she is on is called Alimentum and I am wondering if due to it being so broken down...
