My daughter is a competitve dancer and the studio wants to go to Disney next spring break. How do you read the pricing? Per person or per group? I did just find out the 5th person is the same price as a quad room because there is no charge for a roll-a-way bed.

"Costs are as follows:
3 nights lodging at either Riverside
QUAD: $596
TRIPLE: $661
DOUBLE: $788
SINGLE: $1172
Prices includes:
*six meal coupons per person
*3 day park hopper per person
*coach bus to go to performance for dancers
*dancing at a Disney stage prob. in downtown Disney
*Riverside can accommodate five in a room
*You can stay an extra night in the hotel for all guests in your room for $255.
We are looking at the spring break next March, which would be end of March.
You can upgrade the hopper tickets for an additional $20 per day, per person"

I'm asking because my friends and I (all have dancing daughters) are conflicted and reading it differently.

ETA; Transportation is NOT included in this price. The coach bus to the performance for the dancer is from the hotel to the performance, not from DC to Orlando.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ouch! Okay. That is how my dance mom friends read it. I thought it was per group, because it's only 3 nights. And we are renting a ton of rooms, so it would be discounted.

Time to work my magic to save. We belong to a travel company that would allow us to stay at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek for 7 nights for $447 for a 2 bedroom Presidentail Suite. And my husband is retired military so we could get our park tickets (probably) for about $5-600. That's for the week. I can't imagine spending 3 times that much just for 3 nights.

@Ally G - times 5!! Since there are 5 of us, and she said the price is the same as for a quad, that's $2900 for only 3 nights at Disney. That's THREE times the cost of what it would cost me for a week...minus the food.

It probably is greatly discounted but you have to pay for tickets and the food pass and the bus. That for three days for all that is good!!!

Rachel:

This is PER PERSON. A quad is a 4-bed room, triple is 3, double and single bed room.

That's expensive in my book...so if she shares a room with 3 of her friends for 3 days it's $1500....yeah meals and park are included but for a kid - $1500 is a lot of money!!!

That is per person.

I see these groups in my development all the time (15 minutes to Disney's main entrance). I think it is cheaper to rent a large van (12 passengers) and then rent a house (4 or 5 BR). If you and a couple of other parents go in together it will be a lot cheaper. You can rent a 4/5 bedroom 3 bath home for just over $100 a night in most of the developments around here. Some are gated communities and some are not.

Disney always has events at the ESPN section of their parks. If you are planning on coming around spring break I would figure out where you want to stay and book right away, it's get busy and rooms fill up fast.

I would read this pricing as being per person. If you are willing to have 4 people to a room the cost is $596 per person and if you want your own room it is $1172 per person.

These prices are absolutely per person, based on the cost of a ticket into Disney alone.

We're planning a Disney vacation right now & as we're a military family, we get a very decent break on the park tickets. Even taking that into account & the fact that we'll be driving from Delaware to Orlando instead of purchasing airfare & renting a car for the week we're estimating this trip to be about $2,700 for a family of 4. We've rented a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo in Kissimmee for the week & got an amazing deal on that, will get 4-day Disney Park Hopper tickets, 2 day Universal tickets, eat a majority of our meals at the condo, & eat out once per day.

ETA---I just saw in your SWH that you guys are military, also. Do your research to see what types of programs are going on closer to the date of your trip. You can go to www.shadesofgreen.org for the Disney Military Resort website & they'll have up-to-date info on there. Enjoy!

My daughter is in competitive cheer and we went to Orlando early this year and had the same set up. The price is per person - meaning if you stay with a total of 4 people in your room (quad), then it's $596 per person. We also had to fly in and got some flights on southwest for $200 roundtrip. Have fun!

I would think that it says if your going to have your own room it is $1172, if there will be 2 of you then $788 etc. If there are 5 in a room then the cost should go down even more.

I'm not getting it I guess so which part is the confusing part?

Wow, it's insane to have to pay that for a theme park. Makes me so mad that so many families cant even go for a day and afford it!
There's probably more tourists that see Disney than locals in our own country.
I'm glad your daughter gets that opportunity, sounds like they will have a blast... regardless of that horrible price gouging.
Sorry, I havent had a sip of my coffee yet and this just freaked me out ;)

I read it as per person but includes the room, meals, park hopper and coach bus. There is a set price and each girl will be paying that, so say it cost $400 for the meals, park hopper and coach bus. With Quad room you would only be paying 65.33 per night for the room which with four girls putting the room cost at around 261 per night. If you were doing the single room you are paying 257.33 per night and 772 total for the stay.

It's per person...otherwise if you stop and think about it--it would make no sense.
Another clue that the rates are per person--the additional meal, tickets, bus rates are per person.

Just like it says when it itemizes what you get for the money (per person).

A quad room is $596 per person. It really doesn't sound too bad all in all. You have to remember, this says it includes transportation down there (I assume from DC to Orlando, right?) PLUS on location transport to get to the performance itself. Have you priced Disney lately? a 3 day park hopper pass isn't a cheap item. Their current advertised "special" is $199 per person for ONE of those passes. So, if you take out $200 for the park passes, that leaves about $400 for 3 days of food and transportation from DC to Orlando and back, and local transportation. It doesn't sound all that outrageous to me. Could I afford to send my child to that? That's another question altogether... Could you find less expensive accommodations? Perhaps--but I wouldn't automatically assume so.
Sounds like the hotel room, is $255 a night total (so about $65/night per person sleeping quad). So if you wanted to stay extra nights, you could, at that rate ($255 per room), but the park passes and meal coupons aren't included with that.

I would be curious why the planner chose that particular hotel, though. I would think that you could find somewhere for a lot less that is satisfactory to everyone.
Just my opinion.

ETA: I would verify about the transportation costs. There is no way I would pay that if it didn't include transportation from DC to Orlando and back. You can rent a Disney Resort (on property) location for about $100/night PER ROOM, 4 to a room, depending on which resort (the value resorts) and their availability. The value ones go fast though.

Disney is famous for customer service. Can you phone them and ask? Surely there's a number for this kind of question. They must get questions like this all the time.

I would read it as "single" meaning one person in one room; "double" two people in one room; "triple" three people in one room -- etc.

1100 sounds about right for one room and one person staying in it for 3 nights

and 2k sounds about right for a large room for three nights total

Per person. However check to find out the other requurements of team as many require you to stay together in the same place so impromptu rehearsals can occur especially if this is a competition.
