Put a sliced lemon in a coffee cup of water and let it come to a boil.... dont open the door for a couple of minutes, wipe it all down and leave the door open for it to completely dry. OR cook some fish in it, haha, that will change everything!!

use a bowl of water with either white vinegar or lemon - then "cook" for 1-2 minutes. It will loosen up any gunk to be cleaned and it will remove the odor. Lemon has a more pleasant scent - but vinegar works just as well.

I have not tried it but I have read that microwaving 1/2 a lemon (put it on a plate :) ) eliminates any odors...

I would mix vinegar & baking soda & hydrogen peroxide & one drop of scented oil, like lavender or citris & nuke until boiling. I use this to clean my microwave. after it boils, turn off nuker but don't open door. Let sit for 2 minutes then open & wipes all surfaces inside. All crusty stuff is soft & wipes clean. i do this once a week. I know it gets popcorn smell out for sure!

Ok, you can either pop a bag of popcorn or do what the others have mentioned already with the lemon. Also, coffee grounds absorb odors as well.

I've had lingering odors in a microwave before. Burnt popcorn is not a smell I enjoy and even if the fish cooked perfectly, the smell lingers a bit longer than I want it to. I thoroughly clean it out (top sides bottom and the seals around the doors) (if there's a removable glass turn table, wash it in the dishwasher) first with spray on grease cutting cleaner and when it's all clean, go over it again with baking soda and vinegar paste, then wipe it clean again. Follow that all up with boiling a cup/bowl of water with lemon juice in it then let it set in there till it's cool again.
In the end the microwave comes out scent free every time.
When cleaning out a fridge (emptying it and giving it a complete wipe down), the baking soda vinegar paste works wonders in there, too.

Actually, my kids burned not one but 2 bags of buttered popcorn. It was absolutely horrible. I poured lemon juice in a bowl--vinegar did not do the trick-- and microwaved it for 45 seconds. It was only about 1/2 cup so I didn't have to put it on too long. I also used the lemon juice to wipe down the inside of the microwave and then let it sit. Then I just used a regular wipe to clean it up. It took it out.

I have to do it again tomorrow because yesterday they did it to spaghettios.

microwave a bowl of vinegar for about a minute. It's EXCELLENT at removing odours. I put little bowls of vinegar all around my house when a skunk sprayed outside and it got rid of the smell in under a week, even though outside still REAKED!!! I have used it in the microwave before too and it works great.
