How to Get the Best Deal on Vacation

Hi Moms,

This is a question for those who have experience in the travel or turism industry. We plan to take a vacation to the Atlantis in Early November or Early December this year. I want to get the best deal. Around Summer, I notice they have 99 dollar a night deals. Should I wait and book through the resort? I want airfare as well as transfers. Would it be best to do it through a travel agent? When is the best time to get the cheapest rates? Also, is there a day of the week when travel is least expensive? Are there any ways to book that if the price of the vacation goes down, they match it or give an adjustment?

What can I do next?

If you are looking for all inclusive type deals sign up with travelzoo.com, bookingbuddy.com, Sherman's travel. Incredible deals come out every Tuesday and Wednesdays. Those are the most popular. Once got a 7 day trip to Ireland, car, airfare and 6 nights in a five star hotel for $800.00. Now some deals it must be for four people. Also try vacationstogo.com/resorts.
The other sites (travelzoo, etc) will also have hotels, flights, cars; some all inclusive some not. You just have to look at each deal.

Look around on Priceline and sites like that. I looked at kayak a couple times and it's not easy like the commercials say it is. You have to wait for all these deals to load and it's way confusing.

I have had the best luck on Bookit.com. But it depends where you are going.

I have also found that Tuesdays are the days I can find the best fares.

The only problem with Bookit, is that the first flight it gives you sucks. You have to click view alternate flights and it will let you select the flights you want - so you have to do a lot of the legwork. However, I was able to book a 5 day All-inclusive Playa Del Carmen vacation for 2 over labor day for $700 TOTAL and my SIL paid DOUBLE that booking through the resort.

I've never heard of anyone giving fare adjustments or matches. Mostly I think they don't give a sh*t if you travel or not.

Good Luck.

Airlines offer discounted rates during mid week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

If you're looking for a package deal (airfares, transfers, hotel, etc) you may want to check with a travel agent.

Check out the hotel's website. When it asks for dates, keep trying different weeks or lengths of time. Sometimes you can get a discount for staying an extra night. You can aslo call the resort and ask lots of questions.

I deal directly with the airline and hotel websites to get the best deals.

Another point... As a regular traveler ( business and personal) we are platinum airline patrons and diamond hotel with Hilton.

People who book on discounters frequently get "bumped" when someone with the higher points and regular clients want to book at the same time. This includes air fare.

I suggest speaking directly with the hotel, ask lots of questions, ASK for a discount.

Work directly with the airlines for the best deal available. When something goes wrong on a trip... Those 800 numbers could care less... He on a situation where you have counter service at an airport to solve any issues!

You can do well working on your own if you are willing to put forth some effort.

Happy Travels!
