Hi ladies, I need to buy tickets to Hawaii in Sept. and I was wondering if there is a website that you recommend to use to find the best deal? I already know about Kayak, but thought there might be other better websites out there. Also, any advice on when we might find better deals? We have to go for a wedding on Sept. 1. Is it better to wait until closer to the date, or should I just buy them now? I am NOT looking forward to spending a lot on tickets so I keep putting it off...

What can I do next?

This question is posted often... I still stand by everything I have said regarding discounters...

I never, ever use a discounter because the people who do use it are the first to get bumped, etc when things happen.

You have no support at the airport to help you work through the issues, you are at the mercy of an 800 #. We travel a LOT, I book airfares weekly, and I have seen may people very upset and buying new full fare tickets because it is the only way they can get home. Like the old saying... you get what you pay for.

That said... I only work with the specific airline websites. You can get good deals directly from the airlines. You need to book at least 21 days in advance, more if you know your timing for certain.

I use Southwest and American a lot. I fly hubby to Houston from Dallas monthly for less than $120 just because I go get the deal in advance. I would think you could get a fair deal from CA to Hawaii. Check the specific websites for web specials, etc and you'll end up better off in the long run.

Have fun!

I looked at Kayak once, it confused the heck out of me. Too much information flooding me and my computer at once.

Go to hawaii.com. I have used this to help me decide where I want to go on vacation. You can book airfare, hotel and rental car all at once. I found one deal for under $2,000 for 7 days in December. That included airfare from Wisconsin, to Chicago, to LA to Honolulu, 6 night stay in a hotel and a rental car for the entire stay. ---- Too bad I couldn't go at that time.

Orbitz and Travelocity.

I usually check those out first, then go directly to the airline's websites and compare. Sometimes going directly to the airlines they are a little cheaper. But I at least know the price range first.

There are lots of web sites for inexpensive air travel.

Something to consider. Often times you can buy a hotel and air fare package cheaper than you can buy either one.

As for other airfare sites:
____@____.com
____@____.com
____@____.com

Good luck to you and yours.

I always used to use cheaptickets.com or lastminutetravel.com. My husband always checks all the airlines every night around Midnight - that's when Prices change. I think you get the best deals if you look for tickets on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Also, I heard a report on the news that said the best deals are 6 weeks before the date you want to fly. Definitely check Hawaiian Airlines. We just flew with them in January and they had the best deals. You may just have to do a stop in Honolulu if you are going to another island. American and United also go to Hawaii. We also used points to pay for part of the trip. See if your credit card has points that convert to cash and you can use that cash for the plane ticket. Hope this helps!

I've flown back and forth from the West Coast to HI quite a few times, and I always seem to find the best deal from Hawaiian Airlines. I like booking directly from the airline itself, it saves a bit of a headache if a problem arises because they are able to help you more efficiently. Plus, HA has frequent deals, just check back every once in a while.

If you find a price you are comfortable with, BOOK IT! I can't tell you how many times I put it off only to never find that price again. You can also book a flight/room package through them.
