Fevers aren't contagious. If you have a fever already, she has already been exposed to whatever has made you sick.

the fever is your body fighting off the infection or virus that you have. Trying to not infect your toddler is challenging, but it can be done. Just with any cold or virus, you have to be diligent in hand washing and making sure that what ever you touch, that baby would touch, is sanitized (lysol wipes are easy or soap and water if it's toy). Also, I would recommend wearing a small ventilated mask, that is really the best way not to spread germs when you have to get close to your child. Although, it can take a couple of days for a sickness to incubate, and if you now have fever, your child may have already been exposed. But, that doesn't mean they will get it. It's hard being sick, and also worrying that your baby will get sick too :( I hope you feel better soon!!

Whatever childcare help you can get is good so you can rest and get better. Frequent hand washing and keeping hand sanitizer in your pocket to use more often is a start. If someone else can do the food preparation and serving that can help (if not wash hands first). Don't kiss the baby or share any cups/plates/silverware or let the baby eat off your plate (my toddler loves to do this). Hope you are feeling better soon.

Dear S., Depends of what your fever is caused by. You could wear a surgical mask to prevent your germs from infecting your child. If you are coughing, cover your mouth etc. At 1 1/2 years I think she can hold her own bottle. Grandma Mary

Just to assure you 101.6 isn't high - 103 is high. As with all germs and sickness, frequent handwashing, not sharing utensils, washing handles with Lysol. But also, kids get sick - just make sure she is getting good fruits and vegetables since she is on solids. No fruit juice - just plain (not flavored) milk or plain water, and real meat, not frozen food (ie nuggets). The more natural - close to what it was like in nature - the easier it is for the body to digest and get goodness out of it. This helps the child fight off infection. Plus daily time running around outside, regular sleep schedule (11-14 hours per day), and for kids under 2 years old, no tv/electronics.

I hope you feel better soon.

Wash your hands and try to stay away from her as much as you can, if
that is possible. Just hope for the best.

A fever is not contagious, the question is, what illness do you have? It's the illness the baby can catch. Have you been to a doctor to find out what's wrong with you?
In the meantime, wash your hands, and your baby's hands often. Sanitize things you touch around the house or wear rubber gloves for now. Dont' breathe on your baby of course, sorry, best to pass on the kisses for now.
btw :) 1 1/2 year olds aren't bottlefed. They eat food.

She can't catch your fever. She can catch what is causing your fever. Use normal precautions. Wash your hand often. Cover your mouth if sneezing or coughing. Don't hold her if possible. If you have someone that can help take care of her for a day or two, that would be great. Even if they watch her in your house while you go to another room to rest and get well.

If she does catch what you have, don't panic. Just call the doctor, tell him the symptoms and find out what to give her. Keep in mind, that no matter how hard we try to prevent it, children will get sick occasionally.
