How Would You like to Spend the Day with Your 3-Yr Old Daughter?

I am getting a rare treat this Friday night/Saturday (all day)--I get to spend solo time with my 3 year old daughter! My husband and son are going out of town for a guys' night, so it will be just us girls. Of course I asked my daughter "What do you want to do, just the two of us?" and her itinerary is so sweetly unambitious--she wants to go out to lunch, go play at the park, make some popcorn, and watch a movie. Sounds good to me!! What about you, what do you like to do when you get a girls day with your young daughter?

What can I do next?

Sounds like she has a plan for what she wants to do with Mom. Go with it! I recently had a similar weekend for similar reasons. We went to the mall for a little shopping, specifically a new pair of sandals to show off the painted nails we did later. Being together can be simple and fun! Enjoy!!

I think you should add a special suprise. What little girl doesnt like a suprise added in? You can add in going somewhere and just getting dessert! My daughter loves when I suprise her with that. There are a lot of bakeries that sell cupcakes for a dollar or two and put it in a special box so you can eat it later, like at the playground. I also like suprise fingernail painting sessions and take your time doing something special with her hair and maybe let her pick out your clothes. You make look like a fool with crazy nail polish and clothes but who cares?! It's a super fun girl day!

I give us matching manicures, we read a story, play ball outside, pick strawberries from our strawberry patch, and watch a movie with popcorn... I love alone time with my three year old. She's at such a fun age!!!

I think her idea is perfect.
I have made a picnic, gone to a park, take some pictures of her in the pretty setting to send to relatives via email, take her to the mall to walk around or just to Target to pick out a small inexpensive toy.
Paint her nails at home.
I like the idea of you two watching a movie at home.
When she got older, I took her to lunch and to a movie she wanted to see.

If I had a girls day with my daughter, I'd do whatever she wanted. But I think a pedicure would be fun too, esp since it's sandal weather here in Texas. And I'm always game for an ice cream sundae or milkshake too. Hello Baskin Robbins!

That sounds like the kind of day my 2.5 yr old would like. I love that sort of itinerary because it's about you and her and not some overblown activity that will stress you out.

same but paint nails and put on lip gloss and do each others hair while we watch the movie. My baby loves to brush mommys hair. It would be fun to put a pop up tent in the living room or back yard and have a mommy daughter campout slumber party.
She likes to help me bake, so we might make cupcakes. Pink icing and sprinkles of course. You could make rice crispie treats. I saw a commercial on tv where they pressed the rice crispy stuff into hollow plastic easter aggs as a mold and put m&ms in the middle to make rice crispie easter eggs. Too cute.

Awww, that's so sweet! Sounds like the type of day my 3 year old daughter would like too! She also likes baking cookies, getting her toenails painted, having a picnic in the park in conjunction with playing on the playground, going out for ice cream, going swimming, and playing Candyland.

Mine would love to spend the day on water. We have just enough space outside for a pool that fit us both, lol, but we have so much fun. You add bubbles and water toys and you just have a super happy toddler. Make it super special by also having ice cream and pizza. If you just add shower together and go right to bed and cuddle watching tv you can call it best day ever!
Sorry I got exited and forgot to add that your daughters idea is wonderful, I think you both will have a wonderful time. Take pictures!!!!!

That sounds like a great mother/daughter date! I have taken my 3.5 year old to the movies just recently and out to dinner and went to get her hair trimmed for a girls day. What about pedicures? Coloring? Go to Michaels or a craft store and get a craft to do together.

My daughter loves pedicures and getting dressed up to go out on a date with me =)

When she gets a little older we are going to take either sewing/millinery (hat making)/knitting/ classes together as she's very artistic.

I have yet to have a "girls day" with my daughter. She is only 18 months. I know I have plenty time. I can't wait. If she was three now, I would take her to play at the park, shopping for toys and clothes, also go get ice cream together.

I love your daughter's plan! Enjoy!

My husband travels a lot so I try to do special things with my 3-year-old daughter when he is gone. During this past winter we would go to Subway and pick up dinner and have a picnic in the living room--throw down a blanket and eat on the floor--3 year olds love this! This summer we'll picnic outside. I let her pick out nail polish from the store (instant dry variety for my sanity)--she usually picks blue or purple or green--and we paint our nails. Of course the zoo, Children's Museum, movies, trip to a new playground/park are always hits too. Sometimes we bake together or make a pizza. I rarely use our jetted tub in our master bath, so I often offer to hop in the tub with her and add some bubbles and let her play in "the big tub" as a treat.

Have a fun time!!

Have fun!
