My daughter went to the Huntley Preschool through the park district and the teacher, Ms. Jan, is WONDERFUL! I highly reccomend the Seedlings Preschool. :o)
We are moving to Huntley Illinois from Michigan this summer and I am trying to get some help finding a good preschool. My son will be 5 on August 1st and I am looking for a program that will help get him ready for Kindergarten.
Thanks for all the great reccomendations! I am going to start calling the schools this week and see what happens. I am also going to look into preschool through the Huntley School District. I guess in order to get in you must do a developmental screening to see if they qualify. My son has a mild speech impairment and has been in speech therapy in Michigan for several years, so I am wondering if that would qualify him?
I am looking forward to the move, it seems like a really great area!

I made that move 3.5 years ago but we moved to Crystal Lake a couple towns over. I moved from Waterford but I have no idea where New Hudson is.......
I take my kids to the Goddard school in Lake in the Hills which is just the next town over from Huntly. But Huntley is big so it may or may not be a convinient distance.
The address is:
4561 Princeton Lane
Lake in the Hills, IL 60156

The local newspaper (Northwest Herrald) rated this daycare/preschool #1 2 years in a row. The owner is on site (Michele) and she has a director and assistant director who are responsible for running the programs while she maintains the business side of things which is different than most schools where the director has to make sure all the bills and payroll is taken care of. Anyway the place is great and they have part time and fulltime programs to consider and it's all inclusive in price. Pricing is comparable to other centers in the area.
I am not sure what the public schools offer. The public schools around here are top notch so I wouldn't hesitate to put him in a public program if there's something available in Huntly or even if you did a hybrid approach a couple days at public and a couple at a center. My children are smaller 6 months and 2.5 years so there isn't a public option at this time.
The Goddard School is great and there are a couple around the area.
If you were to choose the Lake in the Hills center, tell them I sent you. My name is C.. They offer a referal fee up to $500 off tuition!
Good luck on your move.
I own a local home daycare and preschool located in Huntley (Little Hands). Little Hands' philosophy is based upon the respect for children, their cultural background, developmental level, natural curiosity, and learning styles. Children learn best through play coupled with the educator’s support in a safe, nurturing environment that promotes positive self-image, independence, self-confidence and healthy living skills. The Little Hands staff is made up of 2 preschool teachers, and 1 infant/toddler teacher, all with educational backgrounds in early childhood education or child development.
We live in Algonquin, which is a neighboring town of Huntley. My daughter goes the Algonquin Preschool and we love it.
Congrats first of all! Second, I live right next to you! Third, my daughter goes to a preschool in Lake in the Hills which is the next city over and loves it! She is only 3 years old but the ages are from two (called Parents Day Out instead of Preschool) to kindergarten. Let me know if you are interested and I can message you the information. You will love this area!! I moved here from MN 3 years ago.
I have heard of good things about the PreSchool through the Park District, Seedlings. And the rates are reasonable because it's thru the PD.
My kids go to TLC Preschool in Huntley and we love it! I think they've done a wonderful job getting my daughter ready for kindergarten next year, we just couldn't be happier. Here is their website:

Good luck with your move!
