Seeking an Excellent Preschool in Algonquin/elgin Area (Public or Private)

I am trying to get advice on the preschools in my area. I looking for something that starts at age 3 (or even 2), but something that focuses on learning and is not just daycare. Does anyone have any experience with Learning Tree Preschool of Crystal Lake? Thanks for any information you can share!

What can I do next?

I don't know about Algonquin or Elgin, but since you mentioned Crystal Lake, I have heard of an excellent school there. Thunderbird Preschool on Rudat Ct. The phone # is: ###-###-####. I am pretty sure they start at 3, and there is a waiting list, you would have to call to find out for sure. Good Luck with your search!

Hi S.

I have sent two of my kids to Light of Christ in Algonquin and have been very pleased. Some moms in my moms group use Purple Moose and say great things about them. I have also had two friends at Learning Tree and have no problems with them. The Crystal Lake library is having a preschool fair in January where preschools from the area come and share information about their programs.

I would recommend The Goddard School of Elgin. I'm a preschool teacher there but my son also attends. It is definitely more than just a daycare. They actually have classes from infancy (6 wks) on up to kindergarten. I may be a little biased since I work there but I think it is an excellent school. All the teachers are college educated with at least an associate degree. Many have their bachelors. The teachers are wonderful. The owners and director are super nice and treat every child with love. Definitely worth checking out. Good luck with your search and I would be happy to answer any questions.

I have been really happy with Good Shepherd in far west Elgin (Nesler and 20). They have several programs for 3's, 4's and mixed 3's and 4's. The program is very organized and really involves the parents. I have been so pleased to see all that the kids are learning at just 3 years old! They do many tours and orientations for future attendees. We checked out all of the schools in the area, and really fell in love with Good Shepherd.

Hello--I also heard nothing but good about thunderbird. I have never been there but I have been told by quite a few people it is AWESOME. My daughter goes to childworks preschool in lake in the hills and my older daughter did too. I love it and the teachers are great. My daughter is learning all her letters and a lot more. You should make appointments at a few different places (when your kids are with you) and see what kind of vibe you get. You will be able to tell which one is right for your kids. I would do it soon because I know thunderbird and childworks usually fill up fast. Childworks takes 2 year olds even if they have diapers. Good Luck

The best place i have found personally and that was recommended to me by several people is Algonquin Preschool in Algonquin at Harrison & Washington. You can look at their website at www.algonquinpreschool.org. The director is always happy to give a tour (during school is the best to see the interaction between the kids and the teachers). My son goes there along with many of my friends children past, present and have plans to continue to due so with their younger ones. The school starts with 3 year olds up to 5 year olds. Best of luck, wishes and Happy Holidays!

I send my daughter to Seedlings Preschool (Huntley Park Dist.) off of Rt. 47. I love it there. There are 5 classrooms to choose from so if your child doesn't click with one teacher ther are other options. They provide lots of extras like lunch bunch and kid rock. They have a large indoor play area as well.

I used to be a preschool director in the area before I had my three year old so I do have some experience in the field. Any other questions feel free to send them my way. I love to help.
