My little guy is now smiling and laughing a lot. we really want to take him to get his pictures taken before he gets any teeth.- He is getting 3 on the bottom right now!-
I want any ideas on what type of clothes look cute in pics at this age. What worked for you and what do you advise doing differently. we are going to do some nakey of course, but I want some in clothes.
Any suggestions would be great. Thank you.

I put my daughter in an all-white sleeper for her 3 mo. photos, and we took an all-white blanket to rest her on. She looked like an angel!!! (May or may not look as good for a boy...I don't know...) Whatever you choose, stick with a solid color. Prints and designs don't look nearly as nice in photos as a solid color!

Enjoy his first photo shoot! It's so much fun!

Just a cloth diaper or disposable w/a cover. You can only get away with these kind of photo's for so long! (-: Otherwise, a cute polo shirt and shorts - KOHLS has cute stuff for boys, they even have a Tony Hawk line that is so cute! My son is 3 years old and I just did his fall shopping there, everything they have for his age, they have for infants.

Enjoy!

I am a professional photographer and so have a few ideas on the subject. Solids, Solids, Solids....The most important part of the picture is your baby, so you don't want anything that is going to distract from his cute eyes and engaging smile. Avoid clothes with lots of patterns and definitely stay away from anything with pictures or words. If it were me, I would try on a few different outfits and see which ones make him stand out. I have a one year old baby boy and I just did his one year shots. He has red hair and hazel eyes. I had a red onesie on him at first but changed it to a blue one and then a green one when I noticed how different each color made him look in the photo. Good Luck and if you need any more advice I would love to help!

When we did my son's 3 month old pictures, I was advised by the photographer ahead of time to avoid busy patterns and overalls. She told me that the best outfits are usually solid colors because the eye isn't drawn to the pattern so much. Overalls aren't good for young babies because they tend to bunch up under the chin. Also, remember to try to coordinate your shirt to the baby's, so if he's wearing white, you wear it too. I had no intention of being in my son's 3 month pictures, but luckily I was wearing the same color and the photographer did some with me holding him. They are the best pictures of the lot! I'd also avoid a shirt with a large design or decoration on it since he's only 3 months and still very scrunchy, so you probably wouldn't be able to see what the design is. Also bring his (or your) favorite blanket and toy for him to pose with. They always have props for the babies, but I prefer to bring our own since then it's a more personal photo. We ended up having his picture done in an outfit that was pretty much a solid color with just a small design on one leg, and posing him on his favorite blanket that my friend had made for him.

Simple, fitted clothes work best. You don't want them too tight, but clothes that are comfortably snug are best for photographing babies. Avoid collars, or overall straps that rise around his face when he's sitting. Avoid patterned fabric. Pick one nuetral top that will reflect well on his skin. For a colored top, go with whatever reflects the most intensely in his eyes.
If you want to help the photographer by getting your baby to do his best smile, be sure to listen to where the photographer needs you. If you stand directly behind the photographer, they are more likely to get the babies eyes right in the lens. To the side, you can get a cute partial profile. If you crouch lower than the camera, your baby may follow you with his eyes, and the photo may not engage the viewer the way it should.
You shuld be prepared to step in for a few photos, even if its just your arms and hands. Your son may decide that big smiles happen only in mommies arm that morning!

Good luck! I'm sure it will be so fun.

My son just has his pics done for his 3 month celebration. We put him in short jean overalls (so you can see his cute little chubby legs) and a short sleeve brightly striped shirt underneath. The pics were fantastic and his cute legs and beautiful toothless smile are the highlights of the photos. Hope this helps! Have fun!

This is SUCH a CUTE age! Have fun with these photos. Any bright, clear color makes great photos, tho one photographer told me red is not good because for some reason it doesn't always photograph accurately and can end up looking purple or orange. Really, any brightly colored clothes your baby is comfortable in would work. (Not white, black or really garish prints, though.) My son always looked good in baby photos in basic blue jeans with a solid-color shirt, or navy-blue overalls with a pale very simple shirt underneath. Skip the hats or anything too forced or fussy because if he's uncomfortable or distracted by some big detail on his clothes, like giant buttons, you won't get good photos easily. Have fun!

I suggest you steer clear of overalls because they bunch up. For the same reason I would recommend you make sure his shirt is a onesie, that way it will sit nice in the pic.

Overalls can be cute, but be sure they are cotton, not jean or heavy material. The heavier they are the less they move and they can go up in the babies face. We did some with a little cap on our sons head (matched overalls) and that was really cute. I would just make sure he is really comfortable. If there's a special toy that makes him smile, bring it. Depending on where you go they may want you in some pictures (or parts of you)So make sure YOU are photo ready too. Don't be stressed because he'll pick up on it. Have fun!

Hi H., you want something simple. Any prints on the shirt will more than likely not show up etirely because he will still slump and curl. With his naked pics, take a fav blanket to drape over his bottom and waiste. A cute hat and matching shirt will work cute also.

I saw a great photo the other day that had a 3 month old in a black onsie and long pants, and mommy in a black turtleneck, against a black background. They were looking at each other, and all you could really see were their faces and hands, thanks to the black - it was really beautiful. Just something to think about.

just a diaper with cover, boy version of bloomers : ) This looks the best, as clothes don't tend to fit well at this age and it doesn't look good in pictures. Au Natural also works good. I use just hatched photography and Melisa is great!!! Check them out online for tons of examples. www.justhatchedphotography.com

Hi H.,

When my son was 3 1/2 months I thought I would put him in a little suit....shorts, with the button up shirt and jacket with a bow tie....boy was that a mistake...the clothes constantly shifted.

Better to put him in a onesie.....onsie baseball outfit...Oshkosh has some beautiful one piece's that snap over the shoulder...cotton...beautiful pale blue with little lambs or something like that...you will know it when you see it.

At 3 1/2 months the babies are so flexible...they really need to be comfortable too.
