I had my daughter August 19th 2015 and I breastfed for a month or two and I got my first period at the end of november or beginning of December and it is now january 29th and I haven't gotten another one yet but I am bloated? Before I got pregnant with my daughter my periods came at different times of the month, usually the end oth month and they only lasted 2-3 days and haven't ever been very heavy. When would I get another one? PLEASE HELP!!!!

What can I do next?

Okay do I understand this? You had irregular periods before you were pregnant and they are still irregular? So you have irregular periods. If you truly want answers, track your periods for 6 months, then take your information to a doctor. "Take charge of your fertility" is a great book.

I am at a loss as to how we can help you have a regular period. Have you asked your doctor for help?

J.,

Welcome to mamapedia...

So you don't have "regular" periods. You don't keep track of them?? What exactly do you want from us? I'm NOT trying to be rude - but really? We're aren't doctors and even if we were?? We couldn't diagnose you from your post.

You need to see your doctor.
You MUST be more aware of your body and you MUST keep track of your periods. It's called a calendar. Use it. Put an 'x' on the day you start and every day you have your cycle. It doesn't have to be big. Just big enough for YOU to see it.

You NEED to go to your doctor. Seriously. Make an appointment and GO.

Ask your Dr. We don't know when you'll have your next period.

Have you never kept track of them? It's not that hard to note it on a calendar or in your phone so you can go back and see it.

Your Dr can best give you a diagnosis or hormones to regulate your cycle.

Sorry but I don't get how you would think we would know this.
Have you been using contraception?
Everyone's periods are off a bit after they have a baby. Mine straightened themselves out so I was fairly regular once they returned, but I know of people who were irregular for a while. Why not talk to your doctor? If you're concerned about possible pregnancy, I would suggest taking a pregnancy test.

It doesn't sound like your hormones have ever been very balanced and pregnancy hasn't helped to get them into any better shape.
Please see an endocrinologist so they can help you figure out what's going on.

It is common for periods to be irregular after having a child. So no one here can predict when your next one will be. Hopefully you went to your 6-week postpartum checkup with your doctor to get reliable birth control, because it is possible to become pregnant before you even have your first period. If you did not go to that checkup, make that appointment now.

You say you've had irregular periods for a long time, but also say they came every month at the end of the month - so that sounds very regular! They are extremely short, which is something you should have discussed with your doctor. There are all kinds of things that happen with hormones that affect both the timing of your periods, their duration and the amount of menstrual flow (which is a result of how much endometrial lining builds up during the month).

You don't say if you are using any type of contraception now. Hormonal forms of birth control can affect your body, but not using a reliable form can also obviously result in pregnancy at higher rates. Is there any possibility that you are pregnant again?

Can you tell us what you have discussed with your doctor? I'm not sure how you expect moms on the internet to tell you when you will get another period when we don't know anything about your medical history, your birth control methods, or what has already been done/discussed/ruled out with your doctor.

If you are not absolutely positive that you aren't pregnant, then use a non-hormonal form of birth control now. And give your OB/GYN a call on Monday morning. You can make free calls to that office anytime, and they will help you decide if you need to be seen.
