My daughter just turned 1 in June and I had a wonderful book with things to expect and normal developmental stages for infants to their first birthday. I think it was called "what to expect in the first year" Does anyone have any suggestions on a good book for the toddler years? I need info on when to begin discipline, what baby should be doing/eating, etc. My daughter is in a stage right now where she just screams if my husband or I aren't holding her or near her. She screams if anyone picks her up other than us or when we leave her at daycare. I'm sure this is normal, but some reassurance would be great. I loved having a book to keep up with all the stages to expect and when they should end! Thanks
I have heard that "The Happiest Toddler on the Block" is a good book. I haven't read it yet, but I see it mentioned often when people (including me) ask for advice on toddlers.
There is another book in the Series called What To Expect the Toddler Years. Its pretty thick but it goes to age 5 I believe. Good Luck! My Daughters turned one on June 4th.
There is a Love and Logic series that is really good. It has one for the toddler years. I'm sorry I don't know the author right off hand, but my sister checked them out from her local library. Also, the Nanny 911 book had some good basic stages information.
The "What to Expect" books continue past age one. The next ones are (I think) What to Expect the 2nd year or What to Expect The Toddler Years. I'm sure if you asked at Borders or Barnes and Noble (ir any big bookstore) they would have them or could order them for you. You could also try kid specific store like Babies R Us or even Amazon.com.
