We are trying to plan a ski trip for my husband & me over the Holidays.
Surprisingly enough, we are having trouble finding what we are looking for on the internet.
We want to stay in a resort-type place where we can ski in/ski out. We are hoping to stay at a place where we won't have to leave the resort for much. (Ideally, it would have some sort of low-key bar if we want a drink, etc).
This is going to be our first vacation without kids since having our 8 month old, so we don't mind paying a bit of money. However, some of the places we've found online are upward of $1000 a night (and that is defintely out of our price range)
We're not picky as to a certain ski area although we had been searching primarily Beaver Creek & Breckenridge based on proximity to Longmont (where my mom & brother live. We are beginner-intermediate skiers (no need for any black diamonds here!).
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
Go Breck!!! We were just there in March and had an absolute blast! They have such a huge ski resort with many slopes for all levels of skiers. It's a big tourist destination which is good for you, having many options for entertainment. Good luck with your search and enjoy your vacation!

Breckenridge hands down! I don't ski, we went with a group of 4 other couples who could ski. I took ski lessons all day had a blast, I did see the other friends, and my husband along the way.
Remember to drink lots lots and lots of water the high elevation will play tricks on you, water and advil will do the trick, just dont skip the water.
I know my sister in law just made reservations for Breckenridge, but she is going before school lets out. They got a really good deal so if you can you might try changing up your days a little so see if you can get a better deal.
We went to Durango last year. It was ski in/ski out and everything was really nice. It wasn't that expensive and we really enjoyed ourselves. They were in the middle of constructing some more apartments/condos so there is probably more choices now than before. The only drawback was that at some (most) of the slopes you had to pole to get to the lift because the area was too flat for too long. By the time you got to the lift you were worn out from all that pole-ing to get there. I don't know if that is every year or just that year. The slopes were nice. We really liked the skiing except for the lift area. I'm still a beginner and my husband is more experienced and we both had the same problem. Other than that, we had a wonderful experience there. Hands down...Breckenridge. I'm an intermediate skier as well. They have the longest blue runs I've ever been on. And the lifts are fast as well. Plus too, they have a variety of blue runs so I never got board there. Neither did I have to pole myself to any lift. The place was awesome!
We just came back from Vail, CO so I'm not sure how far that is from where you want to stay. Vail is one of those popular spots for ski vacations. It's beautiful there and everything is so convenient. Maybe you can look into that. Hope that helps.
