A.S.
I would possibly throw them in a trash can if I had access to one. I also would maybe shove it in the couch. I might try to feed it to the dog.
Were would you put/hide your shoe? My husband and I are going on day three of a lost baby shoe. With sore knees from crawling all over our house numerous times, any help or funny stories would be greatly appreciated.
I finally found the shoe by giving himself else to hide. I followed him to his secret place - the dishwasher! Since we don't use our dishwasher, I didn't think to look there. Now I know my little one can open the dishwasher and close the door too. There was a toy keeping the shoe company.

When I cant find something like that. I will sit in each room for about 10 minutes each, and just sit, and look with my eyes. I look around the room for small spaces that while on my hands and knees I overlooked. I just take it slow and then somehow I always find what we are looking for.
It worked just the other day with my son's sippy cup. We searched high and low, and we dont have a very big place either. Finallllllllly found it behind his toy box, how it got there, or how it even managed to fit behind there is beyond me. But it was there lol.
Have you looked under the crib? In the toys? Under every dresser, bed, couch, in the couch, in the car?
As soon as you stop looking, you will most likely find it. Usually how it happens. Hopefully you find it before you go out and get a new pair!
.
Are you sure it is in the house. It could be in a parking lot perhaps? Or under a car seat?
At home - behind couch cushions, in a toybox or other toy container, laundry hamper (you know, with the socks), behind a door, in a bag/purse/shopping tote, or in a dresser drawer.
Do we win a prize for guessing right?
PS - Did you ask her? I know she is only 11 months old, but I bet she knows exactly where it is!
your best bet is the trash, hamper or the hidden recesses of your car. good luck!
Let's see...in the couch (or under it, or behind it).
In the VCR.
In the refridgerator.
In the dog/cat food bag.
In Mommy's purse.
In Mommy or Daddy's shoe.
Under the tree skirt/in the water thingy for the tree.
I have found strange things in trash cans, clothes hampers, etc. Look underneath couches, chairs, tv's, dressers, in all drawers, hampers, trash cans, outside, buried underneath anywhere, toy bin, stuck inside a toy, diaper bag, your vehicles, etc. The shoe can be anywhere. lol My toddler sometimes will stuff toys down his pants! lol They will find places you and I won't ever think of to look. So, look in all those odd places you think that it would never be in. It will turn up there. lol Could have lost the shoe at the store. One time I went to pick my son up out of the grocery basket and his shoe got caught and slipped off as I pulled him up out of the seat. I almost didn't notice that it had come off. I see a lot of kid/baby shoes in the parking lots of stores, and it very well could be for that reason. lol
Good luck on your hunt. :-D
did you check the latest diaper? LOL my kids always seem to lose the latest toys they get. Then they some how pop up again about a month later in the place I looked for them before. I think you have to chalk it up to the same monster that eats socks.
My sons first day at a new daycare when he was almost 1 lost his shoe for 3 weeks. I was finally found behind the tv cabinet tangled up in the wires (still have no idea how he managed that).
If you have the a Christmas tree up see if she hung it like an ornament. That's where we found a set of keys one year.
Good Luck!
That's so funny....
The fridge? My older son put my daughters stuff in there all the time.
Luckily I never faced this problem, but I had a client who had something similar happen. I work at a travel agency. A client called up to make reservations for a flight. A couple of days later when we were at the ticketing deadline, I put through the computer commands to issue the ticket. "Declined" was the response I got from the credit card. So, I call him up, he said, Oh yea, I lost my wallet and had to cancel my cards. He gave me the new number and I issued the ticket.
After he returned from his trip I gave him a call to see how it went. All went well. He then went on to tell me he had found his wallet. IT WAS IN HIS 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER'S TOY BOX!
This was about 8 years ago and it still makes me giggle when I think about it.
Good luck finding the missing shoe.
in the bathroom/kitchen trash where no one would see it and it would get thrown out.
in a cupboard that i can open.
i fed it to the dog.
stuffed it under the "whatever i could reach and stuff it under".
Too funny..
I have found them - in the high chair, under the couch, laundry baskets, the bath tub, my bed, the crib, the kids beds, the bathroom, under the chirstmas tree (already!!).....
Good luck!
In the car. They fall off...
:o)
Good luck!
Did you check the car? Is it possible it fell off when you were out somewhere? It may just be easier to buy new shoes than go nuts looking for it! Hope you find it!
What other things are they matching right now?
From about 1-2yo kids "match". A lot. Colors, shapes, actions, uses, smells. You'll find kleenex boxes under the bed, or papers/books IN the bed, sammies in VCR players, (they're all rectangular).
If she's putting shapes together... look for things like trains, trucks, L shaped castles.
If she's matching actions... look for things that go inside of other things (feet in shoes, shoes in something else). Like drawers (all kinds of drawers), cabinets, flowerpots.
If she's matching colors... look for things the same color as her shoes.
If she's matching types... look for her shoes in with yours, or in sock drawers, or in the laundry, or in the oven (shoes keep feet warm), or by a heat vent.
For smells... smell her other shoe. Does it smell 'stinky', or like 'popcorn', or like leather, or like rubber? Find the smell... and think what else smells like that in your house.
Think about what things she's been "pairing" lately... and find the common thread. And you'll find the shoe 99 times out of 100.
If not... look under couch and chair cushions, and behind the beds. Places things fall or get squished into on accident. And under car seats... a shoe falling off when you get out of the car.
Look in the most unattrievable places first, like the trash.
Toddlers mimic their parents. Bye bye shoe.
In the laundry? Some types of baby shoes can come off when the pants are pulled off.
I took my 2 year-old grandaughter in her stroller to their neighborhood park. As we played I moved the stoller with us once or twice. When it was time to gather our things and go home, I looked down at the ground by the stoller and saw her shoes. I picked them up, put them in the stroller, rounded her up...then I noticed she was wearing shoes... The ones that I had picked up were definitely hers. They'd gotten left at the park the LAST time her mom had taken her there! I just happened to park her stroller right next to them this time.
In the laundry hamper, in the diaper pail, in the cloth diaper pail, in the Tupperware cabinet..... good luck with finding it!
I just found our 12 month old's sippy cup in the washing machine yesterday... that was a new spot for us!
did you check the car? stroller? diaper bag? my son carries around his shoes, so often times one of them is left up at the changing station...
In a drawer in the kitchen.
Under something.
In a cabinet where they like to play.
Behind something.
In a pot in the cabinet, in the kitchen.
In the veggie drawer in the fridge.
Outside.
In the van.
In another toy or box.
LMAO!
Does she have a play kitchen or any toys that the shoe would fit inside of? That is almost always where missing items are in our house.
It's probably in the garbage. I cannot tell you how many shoes have gotten thrown out.
We once lost ALL the cordless phones in our house, I searched under pillows, furniture in every room, tried blaming the two teenagers and their friends. The Next day I started to pack the cooler for a picnic...... yup, all cordless phones were in the cooler. hmm maybe not the teens, maybe the toddler! His favorite place to hide stuff was the play refridgerator, sometimes found the cat in there....
