I had this happen a few weeks after my positive results. It was just some pools of blood in the uterus but the baby was fine. They can do a vaginal ultrasound to see if everything is ok. I hope this helps. Stay positive.

Hi Y.,

I'm not a doctor, but I've been told that unless the blood is bright red with cramping assume you are still pregnant. I've had two miscarriages and a successful pregnancy. I had some pinkish and brownish blood with my successful pregnancy at the time of implantation. You don't say how far along you are in the pregnancy; could the blood be from implantation (6-10 days after ovulation or approx the time you expect your period)? I also had a threatened miscarriage (with a very small amount of pinkish blood) with my successful pregnancy and everything turned out just fine.

I know it's really difficult, but try to stay as calm and relaxed as you can. The waiting can be so draining. Drink a cup of herbal tea, put your feet up, and watch a good movie :)

Take care of yourself and best of luck to you,
K.

First off I am so sorry you are going through this. I had the same thing happen to me. I would suggest not waiting 5 days. Call your OB and tell them you need to get in for bloodwork to check your numbers. ALSO make sure you request the DOC check your progesterone level in addition to the HCG. If it is LOW progesterone you can get natural supplements prescribed to you. As long as it is before 8 weeks you have a good chance to saving the pregnancy if low progesterone is the issue. Bleeding during pregnancy is very common, and although it does sometimes result in miscarriage more often than not it does not. So call the doctor and demand to be seen for a lab work up! A nurse can draw the blood and send it away without a visit from the doc.

I bled from 6 weeks to 23 weeks everyday. I got a progesterone test, and my doc discovered it was low and supplemented. I now have a happy healthy 2 year old DD.

Best wishes!
V.

A small amount of blood, especially if it's not bright red, could be normal, but there's no way to know without having your blood tests repeated. Many women bleed a lot during pregnancy- especially when the egg implants into the uterine wall. I'm not sure why they told you you need to wait 5 days to check the blood work again- in a normal early pregnancy the numbers should double daily, so you should be able to have the numbers checked sooner to see if they are going up properly.

Unfortunately, I had something similar & I had an early "miscarriage" only for my body to continue on as though I was pregnant, so I guess it wasn't a full miscarriage. It continued to make the placenta, etc. By the time I went to the ER I was far enough along (supposed to be) that I had an internal ultrsound done & it was obvious there was nothing in the uterus except the tissue that normally supports a baby. I don't know what my blood counts were because the ultrasound showed what we needed to know. Talk about confusing! I still had to go home to pass the "tissue". The only sign I had was a brownish "spotting" barely enough for a pad. I know this isn't encouraging & I wish I had a better story to tell. Hopefully others will. I really don't think what I went through is that common, but wanted you to know if it turns out that way, to hang in there...you're not alone (I know doesn't help much). On the other side...I would say take it as easy as you can! If it helps the wait take a pregnancy test daily. ( I know they can be costly) I know it may not be 100% reliable with what you are going through, but it might help to ease the time or it may be 100% reliable. If they only took into consideration how long a week is for you right now! Do you have insurance? Is it possible to insist on a vaginal ultrasound? If you're that early into the pregnancy,it may not help, but I really couldn't see how it wouldn't tell them something. I don't know what made the Dr. think you possibly had an early miscarriage? What about your regular ob/gyn, if you have one? Anyway they might make an exception & slide you in, maybe they would do another blood test...don't know, just a suggestion...trying to help! Some people spot a little the first month their pregnant...I don't know if it's they're body getting rid of old blood, like how sometimes your (some people's) period starts out the first day? I'm terribly sorry you're going through this, when it shoud be a happy time! Try not to let the ERs diagnosis get you too far down & try to take this week to pamper & care for yourself! Take care & let us know how things go!

Hi I know exactly what you're going thru. I had major bleeding at 12 wks w/my 1st & they said it was a threatened miscarriage & then I had bleeding at 14 wks w/my 2nd pregnancy, but when it happened the 2nd time, my doctor said that it maybe normal 4 me when I am pregnant. My doctor wasnt sure exactly what it was, little scarey but when my boys were born they were completely healthy. I had bleeding 4 a month & when I thot I was done, I had intercourse shortly after & I started bleeding again, to my husband's great disappointment, the doctor suggested that we not have intercourese for the remainder of the pregnancy. I hope my story helped & good luck. What an exciting time 4 U!

I'm sorry you have to wait so long to know one way or the other. I have suffered two miscarriages, but also have two beautiful little girls. Bleeding during pregnancy does not always mean you will definitely miscarry. Doctors seem to jump to that conclusion very quickly. Hang in there. If the bleeding gets worse you can always go to the ER and ask to have an ultrasound. They should be able to see if things are doing what they are supposed to be doing in there.

Good Luck!

I bled with all 3 of my pregnanies and had 3 healthy babies. Bleeding very early could be a sign that the egg is burrowing in the lining (implantation bleeding). Brown blood is better then red blood, it means it is old blood. I also had a condition with my 3rd pregnancy, (a subchorionic hemotoma) that caused me to bleed a lot. I was on bedrest and it resolved itself thankfully. Try to rest up and take it as easy as you can. Drink plenty of water too. Follow up blood work should help to identify what is happening. Hang in there, I know how horrible it is to have to wait for those numbers to come and to find out what is happening with your body.

I spotted a little with both pregnancies at impantation. It is normal for some women. My son is perfect and I am now at 20 weeks with his brother, with this one I spotted more at 10 weeks, maybe because the placenta was forming then and he's kicking me now. Chin up, relax and best wishes!

I had brown spotting early on with both of my kids, and they were fine. No need worrying, it isn't good for you (or the baby). Enjoy the journey, God bless!
