I am 33 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child and have been planning a home birth...I have just been ruled out as a home birth candidate due to health reasons. I need to find a very "natural birth" friendly OB as soon as possible. Anywhere in Albuquerque or Rio Rancho is fine but my insurance is with Presbyterian! Any leads would be great!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

thanks for the referrals...It was not easy to find someone this late in pregnancy who can take a new patient fast. Women's Specialist could not see me for a month and Liz Garcia has a 12 month wait list! I am due in six weeks so not really able to wait around. I was able to get in with Women's Health by the hospital! thanks!

Hi J.,
I go to Maren Hubbard, she is a midwife with Presbyterian. She is with the womens specialist located in the main Pres hospital. She is great. I am expecting my second in early January and she has been amazing as far as helping me achieve exactly what I want with this pregnancy and labor and delivery experience. You might also want to consider having a doula during your delivery. I haven't used one, but I have heard nothing but good things from others who have. Pres has a doula tea where you can meet the doulas. Good luck and congrats!

I would definately go with Women's specialist of New Mexico. They are AWESOME!!! I saw them during my last pregnancy and when I ended up having complications half way through they took excellent care of me. You could have a nurse midwife or a GYN. I started out with a nurse midwife. Her name is Michelle Pino. But after I started preterm labor, I was handed over to an OBGYN named Elizabeth Garcia. Dr. Garcia is the best. She saved my daughter's life. I really don't think I'd have her today if it weren't for Dr. Garcia. That was 5 years ago and I still won't go see anyone else for my annuals. Michelle Pino takes care of me again now that I am not pregnant. Give them a call if you intend on using them because they tend to fill up quickly. ###-###-####. They have a few offices around Albuquerque and you can go to whichever is closest to home. And the best part..... THEY ACCEPT PRESBYTERIAN HEALTH COVERAGE!!!! OH, and if you're in the market for a great pediatrician through Pres Salud, Dr. James Bruce is very good at what he does. His office is in Rio Rancho at High resort blvd and 528. Thier number is ###-###-####.

IF you don't mind having a midwfie...I'd recommend Nancy Miller. She works with Women Specialists of New Mexico...the northeash heights office which is on Lomas.

I LOVE LOVED my midwife...and she is great for natural from what I've heard even though I didn't go that way. Presbyterian downtown is setup really well for natual deliveries as well. Anyway - I went to Womens Specialists of New Mexico and saw Suzanne Stalls as my primary midwife. Their office is in the Pres Physicians Bldg side. They kinda work in a team, so she won't necessarily be who delivers you but they are all great. I loved Darlene Laviollet (sp?) who delivered my baby girl in June of this year!
