Hi--
My oldest got his first tooth at 9 months and my youngest at 10 months. A little boy I used to babysit got his first tooth on his first birthday. I got my first tooth at 4 months. There's a wide range---everything is fine :-)
J.
My daughter didn't cut her first tooth until she was a year old.
My son started much earlier.
They both have healthy, beautiful teeth.
Just be prepared, she might start getting a bunch of teeth at the same time. She may not be happy about it, but you'll get through it.
If the pediatrician isn't worried, I wouldn't worry either.
Her teeth will come.
Best wishes.
My 13 month old only has 2 teeth. A friend of mine's baby -- same age-- has 16 teeth!!!!
I'm sure your baby is fine :-)
All the kids in our family teethe early and long. But the people I've known with children who got their teeth later all say all the teeth came in within a very short time once the first one came through.
totally normal; don't worry about it at all.
My friends baby girl did not get her first tooth until she was 15 months, they all came in one right after the other at that point. She has a full set of healthy teeth.
Some kids are actually born with a tooth or two! Some have them by O., some are later. They are all different. Best to learn now not to compare your child to others--guidelines are just that--guidelines of an average age. She'll be fine. They're in there somewhere!
My kids got their teeth late. I remember my daughters first tooth broke through the gum on her 1st birthday. They also lost their baby teeth late, and their adult teeth came in late. This meant they had to wait til later than most kids to get their braces off.
This runs in their dad's family and my sister in law warned me ahead of time so I wouldn't worry.
My 3 year old got her first teeth when she was 1 year old, pretty soon after that one came all other followed.
Her teeth are gorgeous now, all perfectly in line, not sure if the delay has nothing to do with that but I think that maybe because it wasn't much time between them there was not time for them to take each other space, or maybe not, lol.
Don't worry, they will come out.
I had a baby in my daycare who had no teeth until 15 months. Poor baby had TERRIBLE teething pains until they came in :(
My neice didn't get any teeth until she was 12 mos. old. My oldest got her first one at 8 mos. and my youngest got her first when she was 4 mos., so yes, they are all different.
My first didn't cut any teeth until 14 months-ish. Then he cut 8 in two weeks. It was a bad two weeks but then it was over! No dragging it out to one tooth cutting every month and being miserable that long. I much prefer it his way! And, I don't know if it't true, but our dentist said the longer the wait the healthier the teeth.
My daughter didn't have any teeth until almost 11 months old. Her pediatrician said not to worry until after she was one.
My son was 10 months when he got his first tooth and my daughter was 14months. My daughter is now 2 and a half and just got her front incisors (the ones next to the front four teeth). All kids are different. I was late in getting (and losing) my teeth and I think the kids got that from me. I've never had a cavity and I'm almost 30 so hopefully late teeth mean healthy teeth!
My son got his first tooth at 7 months, my daughter not until she was 14 months and then they came in a couple at a time. She is now 2.5 and is just now getting her upper canine teeth (has the lower and all the ones around them). She still does not have her 2 year molars. The dentist is not worried.
They don't really worry unless you don't have any teeth by 18 months. And, then they don't worry much until about 2. I was almost 2 before I got any teeth. The longer it takes for teeth to come in the stronger they usually are. I am 42 and have never had a cavity.
Our dentist told us that typically, the later the teeth come in, the harder the enamel. She will get her adult teeth late, too, and that is also a huge positive. No way would I x-ray a baby that young for something like this, there's nothing wrong with your daughter and x-rays carry huge risks for children that young, especially when done so close to the brain. They probably won't do it, anyway. None of my kids got teeth before 11months, and this is easily within the "normal" range. No need to stress about it.
She's still in the normal age range to be getting her first teeth. I've known a few babies who didn't get their first teeth until after they turned a year old. You just have to make sure that you're feeding them appropriately pureed foods.
I would call a pediatric dentist and find out if they would like to see her. They may do X-Rays to find out if she has teeth under the gums. That would be odd if she didn't but they could put your mind at ease.
yes-and one of my children got 8 all at once!
Don't worry! Some kids don't get their first tooth until they are 1year old---like my kids! The dentist was not surprised at all when I told him that. It does mean they are likely to lose their teeth very late. My son didn't lose his first tooth until he was 7! Your baby is just on the later end of the schedule but still within normal.
My cousins daughter was 14 months when she got her first tooth. The problem was once they started coming in she would get several at one time. Very uncomfortable for her.
my daughter didnt get any teeth UNTIL RIGHT BEFORE Her 1st bday
Probably no worries. My daughter cut her first tooth at 13 months. She had good strong gums, and was able to chew tender foods long before that. Her teeth grew in strong and straight.
Yes it's normal. My son didn't get his until 13 or 14 months old. He is 21 months old now , and still doesn't have all his molars back teeth. His pediatrician had told M. she had known a baby get his first tooth as late as 18 months. Enjoy the toothless smile while it lasts :)
I agree with Gramma G and call a pediatric dentist and maybe visually see something you can't or actually take a small x-ray. Yes, there is a wide variety amongst kids teeth, but I would make sure. Laurie, DDS
My daughter didn't get her first tooth until around 10 months. It's totally normal. Teeth come in at all different times for kids. Each kid is different, right?! Don't worry. However, just to let you know, her 2 year molars were still coming in at her 3 year-old check up.
I wouldn't worry. It's often genetic. My dad didn't get teeth until after one. One of my nephews - the same. My daughter finally cut a tooth after 9 months. Ask your parents and in-laws if they can shed any light into it.
If she doesn't have any at one year, mention it to the pediatrcian.
all babies grow at different rates right down to their teeth... my daughter had 4 by the age of 1. my friends daughter only had 2. another friends little boy had all his teeth by 13 months.
My first started teething at 3 months. My second didn't get any teeth until he was almost 7 months old. My niece is more like your child, she cut her first couple teeth around 1 year old. All normal!
