I am not happy with my pediatrician's office. The doctor, himself is great, but if you miss your appt with him, it takes months to get back in.
I had an appt. with his nurse practitioner and missed it, on accident. We had a thousand things going on and I completely forgot. I called the second I remembered and apologized and she said to call back when i knew my schedule and make my appt. Well, I called today and wanted to get my son in for his shots and for the doctor to look at some little bites that he has. The receptionist practically scolded me and said that we were "No Shows" twice. Then, she said she could not get me in until July 12th. My doctor was not even available for months, she said. I was appauled.
I have had other situations with the office, too. We couldn't get in to see our regular doctor (once again) when my son was sick this winter. The doctor was a complete basket case and admitted us for my son wheezing! They did nothing there at the hospital that we couldn't have done at home, especially since I am a resp therapist. I can give a breathing tx, come on! AND, it was Christmas EVE. SO, we spent christmas in the hospital. Needless to say, I am fed up and really want to find an intelligent MD that is caring with good bedside manner and courteous. I don't like being talked down to and rushed, and that is what I have felt like. Everyone at that office, was rude and in a bad mood because they were so busy.
ANY SUGGESTIONS on Pediatricians in or around McKinney. I do not want Healthcare associates on Eldorado. Thanks
Well, to top it all off, the office just called to reschedule my appt on july 12th because the NP would be out of the office. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The same girl was so rude to me, again. So, I spoke with office mgr and discussed her attitude. She fit me in tomorrow, but I'm not sure I want to stay there. I am just not happy, I feel like I am being spoken to like a child!
I cannot say enough about the caring staff and Dr. Alvis at Stonebridge Pediatrics. They are so accomodating and have gotten me right in many times.
I got to Pediatric health care associates. They are great and the doctor called us to check on my daughter the day after she was sick. They are great. We see Dr. Sutton who is a female and is great with my daughter. She is really comfortable with her. We have seen Dr. Kissinger one time but she also liked him. I also heard he was great thats why I started going there. Good Luck!!!
I really like Dr. Alvis and his nursing & office staff at Stonebridge Pediatrics. They are located off of Virginia Pkwy and Ridge Road. They definitely believe in educating their patients which is nice and they are also quick to respond to calls and schedule appts. We also use All About Children on Eldorado. My daughter is only 4 months old so I've only been there a handful of times, but we've seen Dr. Hooker and Dr. Burton and loved both of them. My daughter had her first illness last week and got sent home from daycare. I called at 3:15 on my way to pick up my daughter and was able to come in immediately (they actually offered a 3:30 or 3:45 appointment). And not that you need it currently, but they also have a lactation consultant on staff which was VERY helpful to me during my first month breastfeeding. I am VERY happy with them!!
ALl About Children on Eldorado...Dr. Burton, Hooker and the NP are all wonderful. I made an appointment from the parking lot one day! My daughter was very sick. I was sitting in the parking lot when they opened. I called right at 8:30 and they asked when I could be there. When I told them I was in the parking lot they said to come in 5 minutes. They are all great!
Dr. Richard Nail with Cenntennial Pediatrics ia great! They are at the new Cenntennial Medical Center on Coit and 121. Very nice. They are even open on Saturday mornings and guarantee to see you that day if your child is sick. Phone number ###-###-####.

We see Betsy the nurse practitioner at Dr. Alvis's office off Ridge and Virginia. I used to work in the medical field and have transitioned into a college professor, so I, like you, know some stuff but would like to have someone else tell me what is going on and prescribe stuff. They never talk down to me or assume anything about what we know or don't know. Betsy is pregnant and due around Christmas so she will be out a few months at the beginning of the year, but Dr. Alvis is great too. We saw him before Betsy came around. They have also been able to get us in at the drop of a hat. Good luck and find someone you like. Life is too short to fight with doctor's offices!
I also go to All ABout Children Pediatrics and I absolutely love it. There are times when you have to wait a little after your scheduled appt, but its still well worth it. I usually see Dr Burton but I have also seen HOlly and they are all so wonderful there. Good Luck!
We LOVE LOVE LOVE All About Children's Pediatrics on Eldorado. They are all so caring and sweet there. We see Dr. Hooker, but we have seen Dr. Burton as well. They are both very good. The entire staff treats you like family! We have never had to wait more than 2 hours if I call when my son is sick. For a regular healthy check-up I can call on a Monday and he willbe seen by Friday. And we don't wait forever in the waiting room!! They have a meet the doctor night once a month I think, you could call and find out when the next one is.
