Hello Moms,
I just wanted to know what is the proper amount of notice you should give for a 3yr old's birthday party? We're doing something very small at our local zoo. The party will be May 22, 2009 which is a Sunday. Thank you for the advice:-)

I would say mail them out 2-3 weeks before, and ask for the RSVP date to be a week before the party. But, if you already know the date and time, it would be a great idea to send out an email now with a Save the Date note, saying invites are coming soon. The earlier they can gt it on their calendar, the better.

I would say 2 weeks. I've never had an invation for over a month. I think it's enough time to get plan arranged but yet not to far in advanced where it may get forgotten :) Good Luck & Have Fun :)

Make sure you leave at least a week for rsvp's, so 2-4 weeks should be good. Too early and it might be set aside.

3-4 weeks.

Families, are busy. They have commitments or their kids have lessons on weekends etc.

I have a friend, that needs 1 month notice, at least. She is so busy with her kids AND work demands too.

3 weeks minimum, 2 weeks never-no anything. Most people have the following 2 weeks planned regardless...I've planned many a parties & events.

3-4 weeks, although I'd send an email to family now as a "save the date."

know your audience.. IF they are the type who have busy lives, procrastinate and or anything that might disallow them from getting back to you within a time-frame needed in order to plan such an event at a local zoo... Then give them EXTRA notice.. this way, by the time they do rsvp.... you can plan your party accordingly.... of course, you will still always have your last minute RSVP folks....

3-4 weeks, especially around that time, people might be planning trips.
It sounds like fun!

I like to receive invitations 3-4 weeks before the event. We have a busy schedule and our weekends fill up very quickly with playdates and our own social schedules.

I send invites to my son's birthday parties about 4 weeks before the party. I like to have an RSVP 2 weeks before the party so I have time to organize party favors for the children. Also, my son's birthday is in July and it seems like peoples' schedules fill up faster during the warm months.

Enjoy your party!! Sounds like a fun idea!
