Is There Something Herbal or Whatever That I Can Take.....

Okay, I am new to this. I am wondering if anyone on here can recommend something for me to take that's herbal, non prescription that will help with depression, anxiety, fatigue, memory and something to help with concentration (I am all over the place - get very distracted very easily). Is there something that can help with some or all of that? Some sort of boost. Sorry that I don't have the right terminology here but like I said, I am new to this. I'm just trying to find something other than mainstream drugs to help. Would like to do it more naturally. Thank you all!

What can I do next?

I would recommend B complex and omegas. As for a liquid vitamins they are not a good choice. Antioxidants start to oxidize as soon as the container is opened if not before. Also they don't contain phytonutrients.
I can recommend a brand if you are interested.

I had most of the same symptoms you describe. When I went on a special diet -- not a weight loss diet, but eating a "clean" diet -- free of processed foods, artificial junk, and void of sugar, grains, starches (www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info) -- with my daughter to help her with her ulcerative colitis diagnosis, I noticed I was free of all the symptoms... within a few weeks.

The anxiety was the worst and I thought it was due to what I have been dealing with regarding my daughter's health issues. Now I think it's what I was eating that made my body react so negatively to a stressful situation. My doctors all insisted I should medicate, but I didn't want to go there. I haven't taken any supplements so I can't help with suggestions, but maybe look at the food you're eating and then talk with a nutritionist who understands vitamins/supplements who can guide you on the right path. Good luck!!

I recommend this to all who write similar questions. I battle with my anxiety, because I'm a worrier. First get yourself to the gym. You need to run, stretch, lift some light weights, or join a fitness group there. Your HDL's will skyrocket. When I miss a day or two on a 4 day gym regimen I get very restless. You'll see the difference once you start. Don't do medications if it's not very serious. Trust me. I've quit caffeine too, since it adds to the stress. I like teas. Green tea is very good, chamomile also. If you need the caffeine then take regular tea since it has less caffeine. Once you start gym, concentration and everything else gets in order. You feel more relaxed and able to complete more things.

My mom had me take St. John's Wort for that. My doctor started me exercising everyday outside. the vitamin d you get from the sunlight is a natural mood booster as is the endorphins you get from the exercise. A minimum of 30 minutes a day 6 days a weeks is what I do- even if it's snowing or blowing! You will be surprised at what a 10 minute walk will do. Blessings!

I agree with the moms about exercising. It will help with the depression. I try to stay away from prescription meds. I go this website alot for home remedies. It's great and so many people post things they have tried that work or don't.

certain rich omega 3 foods can help with brain chemicals to increase sense of wellness. Also activity/movement. If you want, I can help you further, privately. Can't get more natural than fitness, power foods :)

Do some research on L-Tryptophen. It's awesome. There is a link below where you can learn a little more. One capful in the morning will keep your mood stable and help you handle stress and 2 capfuls at night will help you sleep. It doesn't make you drowsy so much as it gets rid of the "to do" list in your head. I really like it. You'll find you will sleep better and you'll feel so much better after you get a good night sleep. :)
Good luck.

A great multivitamin with iron would be the place to start. Then see where you are still lacking. Id also suggest a multiherbal called"happy camper"

You have received a lot of good herbal supplement info, but I'm going to vote with going to the nutritionist. I had similar symptoms and went to my doctor, an MD that practices wholistic medicine, and is a licensed nutritionist. She did all the necessary bloodwork (a lot!) and found that I was not only deficient in several key vitamins and minerals, but also had other issues going on, adrenal distress, hormonal imbalance, Low-T and thyroid disfunction, as well as being allergic/sensitive to several foods. We launched a program of specific supplements, a nutritional diet regimen and abstenance from the offending foods, and an exercise program. It took a couple of years to completely balance, but I began seeing results in memory, concentration and brain function within a couple of weeks. My health recovered and other than still being sensitive to several foods and using a maintenance dosage of vitamin/mineral supplements daily to keep my body stable (I'm in a high stress job!), I'm functioning quite well. Since some supplements can do more harm than good if not taken correctly or monitored, please seek qualified help before you randomly use supplements. It is easy to make things worse rather than improve the situation.

I have heard that St. John's Wort is good for that (Not based on experience). However, from experience, I know that at one point in my life (a year after my son was born and right after I had moved two times to two different States), I was exhausted - just drained all the time (not depressed) and my doctor recommended Vitamin B complex - it really straightened me out. I took it for about 8 months and then did not need it anymore.

Good luck,
L.

St Johns Wart. I know for a fact that one works. My dr asked when he put me on a prescription that I be sure not to take St Johns Wart because it works the same as other antidepressants so you dont want to take both.
ALso B-Complex Vitamin gives me a boost of energy and overall well being. Dr also recommended Valerian for stress, but it never did much for me.
Try Yoga, Zumba, cardio, any kind of excercise will help you feel better, have more energy, destress, and focus.

You've rec'd quite a lot of good suggestions. A knowledgeable person at your health food store may give you additional info, but I want to emphasize what one poster said. GET YOUR THYROID CHECKED! My daughter thought she was losing her mind until she finally went to her doctor and found out she was low, low, low thyroid!!!

I would start with B vitamins and omega 3's. I keep juice in the house that is filled with b vitamins, it is made by Bolthouse Farms. Your body will absorb it faster than a pill supplement and it tastes much better. They also have a C boost and some other varieties in the produce section.
St. Johns Wart and Ginkgo Biloba will thin the blood. I don’t think they are as helpful and should be used with caution.

I scanned your other responses and saw "Happy Camper". I took it for a while and it was good. The guy at the store told me a lot of teachers take it :). I have also heard Fish Oil is good. A long time ago I took Estroven.

Good for you for going the natural route!! Prescriptions have so many side effects.

Could be a thyroid problem.
I don't know how old you are but if you're in your 40's it could also be part of peri-menopause.
In the fall it's common for people with Seasonal Affected Disorder (S.A.D.) to begin feeling the blues and they don't perk up till spring unless they use a SAD light over the winter or take vitamin D supplements.
Although there are natural ways to help improve some conditions, it would be a good idea to know what it is before you self medicate with herbs and vitamins.
Not knowing might mean you try something that might not be so good for you.
See your doctor and try to pin point what it is first.
Then you'll have a better idea what to try.

Yup, a lot you can be doing, or stop doing for that matter. I do free holistic panels for people in regard to nutrition and health ailments/goals. You can email me back and I just a little bit of info to point you in the right direction. I don't work for a company, or sell any products or services. I am just a believer in food healing and have practiced for 21 years now.
