Has anyone tried Jenny Craig? What was you experience like? Were you successful? I am trying to lose the pregnancy weight and then some. I did Weight Watchers after my first pregnancy and it was great. Just think I want to try something different. Any advice would be great.

What can I do next?

I have done a program called Isagenix. It's a health and wellness cleansing program. I love it and I have several family members and friends who have done great on it too. I went down from a tight 14 to 8. My brother has lost 55 pounds since Easter. If you are interested email me or give me a call and I can tell you more. ###-###-#### www.kristinestell.isagenix.com
And you don't have to eat the unhealthy meals that can be stored in your pantry for years.

My mom and my aunt have both done Jenny Craig and lost tons of weight. It's a bit pricey, but the food is delicious. As a child I used to steal my moms meals, and eat them, when she wasn't home. My mom has also tried Weight Watchers and done well on that too. The point system is fairly easy and you can eat regular food. You might consider that if you want to save a little money :)

I did it years ago, and it worked out great. However, it was pretty expensive. Basically you're buying "TV Dinners". Don't get me wrong, the food was pretty good... but expensive ($100/wk I think). Plus, you have to supplement with fresh fruit/vegs. I think that the main thing with these places is portion control, and a feeling of accountability. I know with me, after paying $100+ for my food for the week, cheating was out of the question... Also - you're not eating the same stuff as the rest of the family. So you're basically preparing your dinner and then somebody else's dinner. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Like the other poster said, the JC meals can be about $100/wk but that doesn't include the price of membership. You must be an active member of Jenny Craig to have the "privilege" of buying JC food. Not just anyone can buy JC food. So naturally, the memberships are pricey. You can get in on a promotion of $30 for 30 lbs or something like that...whatever promotion they have going on now...but if you have more to lose than 20-30 lbs...you'll need to buy a membership (hundreds of dollars..can't remember the price..there are different levels of membership).

The food is good but it didn't teach me how to eat in the real world, like WW did. I didn't learn how to cook for myself in a healthy way...or portion sizes. It was basically eating their food for a while...I lost the weight but it came back when I went off of JC because I never learned the right way to cook/portion sizes. etc.
You'll definitely lose weight on the program if you stick to their food only. And they discourage you from eating other foods (because they can't sell you more of theirs).....so I always felt so guilty if I had a family gathering or a dinner party that I was invited to. They encouraged me to eat my JC meal before going and just eat fruit/veggies at the party -- rather than teaching me/letting me face the temptations of the real world and learn how to eat the right foods.
Every week, you sit down with a counselor and you go over what's going on in the upcoming week...and then you go over what foods you want to buy for the next week...they always push buying 3 meals for all 7 days. I hated that most of these "counseling sessions" were really about food sales.

Jenny Craig was great when I did it 10 years ago. The personal conselors were a big help to me. The only things I did not like were how expensive the food was and cooking 2 different meals. I was buying the food for me from Jenny Craig and then going to the grocery store to buy food for my husband. It became a hassle after time. I go within 5 lbs of reaching my goal weight and that was good enough for me, so I quit going. If I could afford the food, I would definetly do it again. Good luck reaching your goal!!

If you need one-on-one counseling, it's great. The biggest drawback is the expense. $75-$100 a week on the "Jenny" food, and you still have to go to the grocery store for staples.
Weight Watchers is less expensive, and you get the weekly motivation from your leader & group.

Hey A.,
I'm currently doing JC and it does work. I did it in the past and met my goal weight, just recently I went in to do the $20 for $20 dollars to lose the couple of extra pounds before having to get in a bathing suit. It does get a little pricey because of the food, but I quickly learned to substitute in "real" food so I wouldn't have to buy as much. I really like a lot of the dinners so that is easy for me, not a big fan of the lunches so I just eat a turkey sandwich or substitue something during that time, breakfast I do about half and half. They have a really good egg/potatoe scrambler breakfast that I like but I also just like to have cereal/toast in the morning. Once you are on it, you do learn about ways to eat healthier, portion control and all that. I'm told its a lot like weight watchers. I just know that if I'm trying to lose the weight, I like the idea of knowing exactly how much I can eat, something easy to prepare and something that tastes good. Good luck!
