What is the toy your child has that the first time you saw it you had a childhood flashback or an "I had one of those!" moments?

My 18mo daughter is starting to love her 'babies'..my sister got her a baby doll and two bottles-one with milk the other with oj in them-the kiind that has the liquid in them. You would have thought I was the kid when I saw it...I had one of those! I was then suddenly flooded with all kinds of memories of me taking care of my 'babies'.

What can I do next?

Awwww, what a nice post! When my boys were little I bought them Big Wheels. Man, I used to tear up the sidewalks of my neighborhood on a Big Wheel!

When my daughter was into the My Little Pony's and then later Barbie's, I think I was more excited for Barbie's than she was at first!
For my youngest it was all the Little People, it was even a flash back to not only my own childhood but also when my oldest was in those toddler years, in fact some were the same playsets that I had just kept, because those toys were made so nice, they held up! My son got a set of wooden blocks in the little wooden wagon made to look "retro" that was identical to one I always played with at my Grandma's. Just over hearing my daughter though when she is playing with her younger brother and using her imagination is such a sweet reminder of more simple times when my own sister and I used to play together. It also helps me to cherish the sweet moments because it all passes by so quickly. It is quite amazing when I look at my oldest who is now going to be 16 this year and look at my younger kids 10 and 4 and just be blown away at how fast time goes by, thinking of how different they are summer after summer.
Good Question!!! =)

My husband and I bought our son the Fisher Price Parking Garage at a Flea Market. It has the date of 1970 on it still. ☺

I recently found an old-fashioned fisher-price barn for my kiddos - the kind that moos when you open the barn door. Everyone in my generation wants to hear that 'moo' sound when they come over. Loved the fisher-price toys when I was a kid - we would make mountain 'villages' around the roots of this giant tree in our yard. So much fun.

When he was little--the plastic play food.

Now, it's Pay Day, Magic 8 Ball and Etch a Sketch!

ETA--I had a little rush of that when we went to see Smurfs! LOL

Probably the play kitchen and plastic foods (though they're a little more high tech than the tin (or whatever) kitchen with pictures like when I was his age). The stacking blocks (lego type things, but bigger). Some of my favorite books that I bought to read to them (Shel Silverstein, Jack Prelutsky, Dr Seuss).

One of my kids got a Spiderman mask and it reminded me of when my cousins and I would put a red netted mesh thing (for potatoes or onions?) over our heads and would play Spiderman. And my brother and I LOVED our light sabers (they were just fixed, but made the "woowoo" noise)....now my boys have light sabers and that excites me more than it probably should. But now they're all fancy, and they retract, you can push a button to make it "turn on/off", and it has a LIGHT and makes more noises, even impact noises! Ok....getting excited and letting the nerdiness out a little....

My aunt made me a real one in the 80's when I was little, and I loved it.
When I saw the reproductions at Target, I hhhaaadddd to buy it, even though it was 14 bucks (for a sock monkey!)
Mon Chi Chi's!
I had those little monkeys growing up and again, shopping at Target, I had to get one.
Wow....I guess I really love monkeys! lol.

It wasn't a toy but my daughter was watching TV and on came Jem! I had that doll and man I loved her! I was watching it smiling like I was 6 again. My daughter looked at me with her face all scrunched up and asked why everyone looked so funny (big 80's hair and clothing).

Not really toys because they are boys and I had "girl toys" but I love the books Dr. Suess books, and my brother gave my youngest son The Wishing Tree I almost cried, the outsiders I bought for them because everybody should read that book at least once.

Barbies!!! My mom has kept some of my actual Barbies and clothes, including the doll and fancy ballgown I totally remember using my First Communion money to buy at K-Mart in second grade.

Also Schoolhouse Rock--I purchased the DVD a few years ago but my daughter wasn't really interested...I'm thinking as kids we watched it so much because it came on between cartoons on TV and we were a captive audience :-)

Fun question!!
