Jff-what Would You Do with Lotto Winning for Yourself

What would you do if you won one of those $100 million lottos for yourself? This is after you pay all your bills and debt, set up college funds, any other "have to" stuff, and everyone else in your family is taken care of. I would probably get lasik, laser hair removal and some lipo, so I look really good when we go on all our trips with our new found money. I thought about this while I was shaving my legs again, wishing I didn't have to.

What can I do next?

Wow, I don't even know. Buy a nicer house would be a start, a nicer car maybe. Provide better care for the pets. But most importantly, I'd use the money to try to start a family (adoption), as I'm unable to have a baby on my own.

I'd get a "mommy makeover"! Tummy tuck, lipo, nose job, bags removed under my eyes, eyelids done. Sheesh - the whole kit & kaboodle!

Oh, then I'd get laser hair removal on my hairy parts!!! LOL

Wow, I'm really dreaming!!

I would go on a trip and hire a nanny to go with us. I'd probably also hire a housekeeper, so I wouldn't have to clean!

I love to have and environmentally friendly home that looks like it grew out of the ground, with a ton of land so I can't hear my neighbors. I also would travel travel travel. Of course my family and friends would be well taken care of, and I would absolutely have "staff" to cook and clean for me, and a personal trainer to motivate me to burn off all of the calories from the glorious meals that the chef feeds me :) I'd also donate to a laundry list of charities. Oh, and I'd get a car, a new one, that starts every single time :)

Personal chef

Personal masseuse

In home gym

Pool (a REALLY big one that I can actually swim in)

A house cleaner that comes daily

A huge motor home for my in laws

Am I out of money yet? If not.....

A motor home for us, too

A personal hair stylist to do my hair each day

An in home theatre

A bigger house, because we would probably end up having more babies!

I would definitely donate a lot of the money as well, just not sure where. Probably to our local Children's Hospital and some local food banks.

I actually DO this every few years as a 'life exercise'. To cut through all the miasma and see what I really want to be doing with my life. I actually chart the whole thing out. Who I'd give it away to and how much. What I would buy. How much gets stacked away in trust to live off the interest. And THEN, what the freakin blazes would I DO with myself to occupy my time (since one can only lie about on a beach, or playing for so long before becoming completely and tragically BORED).

Because, you know what I've found? Each and every single thing on my 'list' of what I'd do, and most of what I'd buy, is DOABLE... just on a different timeframe, and with a bit of tweaking. It's how I decided a few years ago what I'm going to "be when I grow up".

3 examples:

1) I'd fly all over the world, exploring it/ meeting people/ taking photographs, lying about on beaches and riding waves and mountains all over the world.

2) I'd fund archeological digs

3) I'd collect amazing art

4) I'd open a school for ADHD kids

Translates to

1) I fly all over the world, exploring it/ meeting people/ taking photographs, lying about on beaches and riding waves and mountains all over the world. But instead of being able to do it full time, I can plan out vacations & my work/school to be able to do it at least once a year.

2) I'm going to school to be an archeologist (ACTUALLY, I'm triple majoring. In Anthropology/Archeology, Fine Art, & Nursing. I plan on being a professor at a community college -Better hours and pay-. Teach 2 quarters, spend 1 quarter on a dig doing double duty as a staff nurse and archeologist, pad the dig season on one end or the other or both with NGO work -like nurses without borders, Red Cross, etc., and use what's left of the 4th quarter to write for publication/travel).

3) I collect forgeries

4) I homeschool my own ADHD kid

The list is actually MUCH longer than those 4 examples. But, durn straight, I'm DOING it :) It just has to be a little bit different than if I were independently wealthy.

After paying off the house and all our other debts, and funding my daughter's college education, we would buy my daughter and her fiance a starter house and a new car, my husband a vintage Mustang, and me a Harley, establish our own educational theatre company, and invest the rest so that the interest would fund our retirement.

I would buy an affordable house in a nice neighborhood and a modest vacation home. Then, I would take my whole family on a world tour. When I got back, I would start a business, something to do with food. Like a posh restraunt family business, so, I could employ my family while I indulge my passion. You know - teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime.

I really, really want to go to London. And my husband wants to do Disney, so we'd probably take a really long trip. :-)

My husband wants to learn blacksmithing, so we'd set him up with that, and we'd have another baby, which is what I want to do when we get his car paid off.

my DH won a smaller amount ($25K).....after taxes, we received $17,000+.

We spent this on paying off his heart surgery & for the prep of our son's hip replacement. It also carried us thru the actual hip surgery....all the extras: my loss of income/3 days off from my daycare, the costs of living at the hospital for 4 days, the special daily care self-help items, etc. That extra cash truly came in handy as we worked our way thru those extra expenses!

DH bought a used boat for himself.
We bought a used SUV for our older son.....& a vintage Vespa for our younger son.
Do you notice a theme here.....toys for the boys??? !!

I have a 2/3 completed remodeled/updated kitchen. We chose to break it into 1/3s since it was a complete reworking of the existing space. Final phase is next year.

We also updated quite a few of the features in our home. Simple things which were $100-200 each.

Paid off quite a few little bills.....put a little in savings.....& that was it!
I consider most of how the $$ was spent....to be for me....other than the boy toys. Clearing out the medical expenses, paying off the little bills, & making it thru our son's hip replacement.....all meant Peace of Mind for me!

Now to answer your original ?: big lotto winning = a new lake house with a private dock on a cove at Lake of the Ozarks, a new big boat for me/friends/family, a new fishing boat for DH, jet skis for the boys, & a house big enough for entertaining everybody!

In the meantime, I'm more than happy with our current plans to sell my family lake house (at a smaller lake) & buying a fish camp at Lake of the Ozarks! The little bitty one we're looking at has a private dock on a cove...& it sounds great to me! But first we have to get the old family place sold..... Fun question, thanks!

After I do all the thing I have to do to get out of debt then i would buy a nice house with a pool in the backyard. I would move somewhere really nice that had a good school system. Of course I would take some trips with the family and share some money with the family. I would also have liposuction and a tummy tuck. I have never liked my stomach and always have a bulge no matter how much I weigh. It has gotten worse with age and since having a child. It is a nice thought but, for now I will work with what I have and be happy we all have our health.

I would do all kinds of torturous things to my body to fix it up...maybe a fat farm, lift this, tighten that, etc....

Then I would buy the best house I could find and buy all new furniture and hire a decorator to fulfill everyone's fantasy bedroom dreams.

I would buy myself a brand new Suburban or other large vehicle with enough room for everything behind that back seat. I would travel the USA and see all the wonderful parts I haven't seen yet. I would do all kinds of things for myself but I would also be doing and buying things for the kids too. That is fun too.

well, if our debt was already paid (we have student loans and some credit card debt), then I would buy a nice house. Not too big though. I would travel. I would love to go to Italy! Pay off my MIL's house for her. Buy some new clothes. Buy a new car. Then I would put the rest away for my kids college and possibly their wedding. Then just keep it in savings for future vacations and fun stuff.

Go and get a decent haircut. No one around here can seem to cut my curly hair, and I refuse to spend 50 bucks on a hair cut. So if I had a ton of money I would probably go ahead to a fancy salon and get it done right! I would also do laser hair removal, I would move back home. I would also get a new car...mine is 10 years old. I still love it, but I wouldn't mind a new one either.
