So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great stories. Keep them coming ! :)

I think my first and one that has really stuck with me was when I was in Jr. high, I had a good friend died along with her mother (who's name oddly enough is also mine: D. and same birthday as me: July 4th.) in a car accident on their way home from picking her up from school. They lived out of town so they drove the highway everyday. That Friday in August, after school both her mom and stepdad picked her up and went home and on that way another car ( I don't who or what kind to this day) hit them head on and killed my friend and her mother killing them head-on. I could of been in the truck with them because she wanted me to spend the night but my mom said no.
Anyway, know that you know the story before hand, fast forward to Halloween night. My step dad was either asleep yet or working the night shift and my mom had taken my little sisters trick or treating and i had to stay home and hand out candy. I was watching tv and waiting for the trick and treaters, I looked out our big picture window off to the kitchen and out standing on the sidewalk staring in at me was my good friend that died in August. I stared at her for what it seemed like forever and booked outside and looked around and saw nothing. That's not my most recent but like I said, the one that has stuck with me and I remember like It was yesterday.

When I lived in an old house on the east coast I awoke because I felt what I thought was my cat jumping on the bed. But when I opened my I eyes I saw a woman sitting on my bed. I sat up and looked at her. She looked peacefully at me and then slowly faded away. We had many other experiences in that house. No doubt it was haunted.

I have tons, but the most recent/active event is this female presence that's been in our house since my husbands grandmother died. The first time I thought it was grandma, but my guy keeps freaking out thinking his (deceased) sister is here... we smell her perfume and she 'checks in' on the kids often. She almost always comes during the day (while Rob's not here)... because whoever it is knows how scared he is of 'something he can't hit!'... I'm calmed by it, it doesn't bother me.

I have lots more... but not enough time ;) I figured out I was pretty sensitive to this stuff at a very early age... and now my 7 year old daughter is too.

Yup. My friend Patty had just moved into her house. We were hanging out with my other friend, Teresa. We were in Patty's kitchen as she started complaining that every time she dug up another portion of her back yard to garden, she kept finding little kid toys burried. So as Patty is telling Teresa and me this story, I glance over at Teresa who is quite rudely humming during this conversation. In fact, she did it throughout almost the whole time Patty was talking. Then Patty had a phone call and left the room. I looked over at Teresa and asked "what are you humming?" You rude thing!

Her eyes got wide. "I thought that was you!"

Something or someone was in the room humming, in between where Teresa and I were standing not five feet from each other.

Yikes!

When I was in my early teens, me, my dad, mom, and lil brother moved out to a farm out in the middle of nowhere. It had a cute lil white old house on it. It had one bedroom, a living room, kitchen, and a bathroom that was added by a previous owner. So thats where my brother and I decided to make our rooms. He took the actual bedroom and I took the larger living room that had a door on it. Well for a while things were fine. Then one night, i was laying there listening to music and my covers started sliding down the foot on the bed, figuring it was just the blankets falling, I pulled them up. However th blanket would come up a lil and then they would be pulled back down. I was playing tug-a-war with my blanket w/ whoever or whatever was in there. I did sleep in that room that night, but the next day I switched rooms w/ my brother. I told my parents and him what had happened and my lil brother didn't believe me. Lets just say he didn't spend the whole night in that room and would never go in there again. Nothing else happened in the other room or rooms. It was just that one. Probably didn't help that there was a cemetary about 1/4 of a mile up our road.

We've had a few. I had a dog that was haunted. No joke. We would put him in a crate at night because he was destructive as a puppy. When we moved to a new apartment, he started being let out of his crate. We would lock him in at night and find him running around in the morning. I know a lot of people would say he was figuring out how to open the crate, but this dog is terrified of noise. Seriously, I accidentally bumped his crate while he was in there and he just cowered. I can't see him messing with it to open it.
Also I came into find that same dog completely soaked. Nothing around him was wet, not the floor or his bed. He was just standing there shivering and wet. I looked everywhere for the source of the water and never found it. After I let him out he went and hid in the closet and wouldn't come out.
In that same room we had a lamp that would constantly be unplugged. I guess the ghost was afraid of a fire hazard.

Also a few months after my grandpa passed, I was sitting thinking about him and a musical snow globe of mine started playing. I hadn't wound that thing up in months, there was no one near it, and it played long enough for my husband to come out of the room he was in and hear it. Then stopped. Totally freaked me out.

In that same room we had a lamp that would constantly be unplugged. Neither my husband and I were doing it.

My friend was spending her first night in their new place which was a very old converted (into flats) house in Edinburgh. She had an 11 year old daughter who was sleeping in the back of the apartment, and went to bed wearing White pyjamas. My friend decided to leave her door open when she went to bed so that if her daughter needed her (being the first night there and all), she would be able to find her easily. At about 1am my friend was lying awake when she saw her daughter walking down the hallway towards her. She lay there thinking, 'oh here comes Kirsten, I'll just wait here until she gets to me,'. Her daughter continued towards her, and then she realised it was not actually Kirsten but a figure in White. As it got closer it suddenly whooshed towards and then through her her and up. Scared the crapola out of my friend! She said she went around the house after that saying, 'OK, just leave! We're here, I know you're here, but just leave!'.

We think that our one room has something in it. When we first moved here that room was a storage room. Sometimes we would hear sounds coming from the room. Then one day it sounded like everything in the room came crashing down. We went to investigate and everything was fine. When my daughter was born we cleaned out the room and it became hers. When we hooked up the baby monitor it sounded like someone was blowing into it. Like when you check a microphone. We thought that it was the cats being nosy and checking it out. We turned and they were both sitting on the livingroom floor looking towards the room. As my daughter got older, around 2 she would not sleep in the room. She told us that there was a ghost coming through her wall trying to get her. One night she came out screaming that the ghost came through the wall, looked at her and went through the door into the hallway. She wouldn't sleep in there for a long time. So I taught her to go in her room and say " GET OUT OF MY ROOM! THIS IS MY ROOM!" Things will be on even though we know that we turned it off. Like her night light, DVD player will be on and running. Toys will start playing by themselves.
I put a post on here about it. And I got quite a few responses. It's freaky but we learned to cope with it.
My neighbor who is in the apartment attached to ours told us that she woke up one night and a little boy was watching her sleep. She has all girls in her house, no little boys. Her mother told her she was dreaming but she insists that she saw a little boy. The places are old and everytime that we make a change something happens. We are due to have another baby and he will have to stay in my daughters room. I am wondering what it going to happen next.

my grandparents house in colorado was haunted. my uncle lived in the basement and he would be woken up quite frequently by a small boy standing next to the bed. one night the boy told him to be careful that "she's coming and she's not nice" my uncle waited but nothing happened and he fell back asleep. shortly after, he woke up when he felt someone sit on the bed. he looked up and an old woman with a basket was sitting there and offered him something out of the basket. he freaked and swung at her and she looked very sad and disappeared. he never saw her again. the door to the back bedroom would also open and shut on its own and a vapor came out of the door once and hung in the living room then disappeared. my grandma had cancer and was dying in the back room and while she was barely coherant, she told us that she had seen her mother and father and daughter (all dead) come out of a picture of Mary on the wall and tell her she would be with them soon and they would wait for her. after her death, we were sitting in the living room and her spirit walked from the kitchen, past us, and into the back bedroom shutting the door behind her. prior to her death i would sleep in the back room (no one else would) and would hear someone breathing next to me in bed. I miss that house!

My ex hubby and I lived for almost a year at my Dad's 150 year old farm house and our room was in the original part of the house. One night I woke from a dead sleep in the middle of the night and saw an old man standing in the corner near the foot of the bed. I just sat and stared for at least a minute, then suddenly hear my ex (who I didn't know was awake also) whisper, "Do you see him too?!?!?!?" I responded yes and we both watched for a few more moments before he vanished. Freaked us both out.

Also at that same house both my son and my nephew have been playing upstairs at different times and asked who the old man upstairs is, or stated they didn't want to play up there while he was watching them. He seems harmless but the ghost in the barn is not. That ghost also freaked out my ex when he was working in the garage in the lower part of the barn. He heard footsteps walk steadily across the upper section of the barn above his head, all the way from one side to the other, then start again. That same ghost scared the bejeezus out of my BIL when he went to get some stuff stored in the loft and it start pushing boxes over behind him. Literally, he walked down a 8 foot wide path, heard a BANG, turned around and saw a heavy box right behind him. Then as he took off back down stairs, like 3 more things, boards fell over or moved. They had been totally stable for months and there were no animals up there.

Needless to say, I mainly stay out of the barn now when I visit, but the old man in the house seems to just be watching over things.

When my first born granddaughter was about 3 months old her mom woke early one morning when she heard a male voice coming from the baby monitor saying "Wake Up!" When she laid there wondering if she dreamed it she again heard the voice, this time right next to her bed "Wake up!" She ran in the baby's room to find that she had rolled over and got her head, face down, caught under the fisher price aquarium that was hooked on the back of the sleigh crib. There was a small gap between the mattress and the bottom of the toy.

When my granddaughter was just under a year old she would get really upset with something in the diningroom at my house. As she got older she talked about a little ghost in there. I would tell her that grandma doesn't allow ghosts so she should tell it to leave. She told it and I ask if it left she answered no. I asked what the ghost is doing and she answered Crying. I asked why the ghost is crying and she said "she is sad" I said "Does she need a hug?" Emma said "yes" so I said for her to go give her a hug. Emma's eyes grew really big and said NO. She talked quite a bit about ghosts and then one day when she was 3 she talked about her friend "gordo" We didn't have a clue where she came up with that name and I asked her where gordo lived. She said "In Heaven, she died" I asked how she died and she said "from smoke" I asked how old gordo was and she said 4. Then i asked what kind of smoke she died from, cigerette smoking smoke or different kind. She said it was a different kind. What Emma doesn't know is that there was a family of 7 who died in this house back in 1963 from Carbon minoxide. I went to the library to research it only to find out that the children's ages was g 4, b 3, g 2, and twin girls 8 months.

My son had a colostomy bag when he was a baby. One night his bag started to leak causing his skin to breakdown. As I was carrying him to the bathroom to change it, I felt someone leaning over my shoulder and they asked if he was going to be okay. I thought it was my husband. When I turned around to answer him there was nobody there. My husband was still asleep in bed. This spirit spoke to me again a couple months later but I couldn't understand what he said. My son is now 6 and sometimes he will tell me that someone is in the room with him. He said the man speaks but he doesn't know what he is saying. To help keep my son from getting scared I tell him it is his guardian angel.
