I know not many mommas will be on this morning, but I'm the first one up, so here I am :)
I'm sitting next to my Christmas tree, decorated with hand-painted ornaments made by my step daughter and I. There are actually quite a few gifts under it. Most of them are for my kiddo, and that's how I like it. However, it wouldn't have been possible without my boss. This year has been surprisingly tough, money-wise. We suddenly and unexpectedly got full custody back in October. Since it came with unexpected bills (travel costs, day care, ect), I honestly didn't think there would be much from us for the kid.
Then, in November, my boss decided to give everyone that works for her $100, with the stipulation that it's spent on someone else. I ended up buying a few presents for my daughter with it. This is going to be her first Christmas where her toys are going to be all hers. She won't have to share them with anyone else and they're going to stay here and she can play with them whenever she wants. It's also the first Christmas we're spending with just us as a little family.
So long story short, I'm thankful for my boss. Not for just giving me a fantastic job, but for being an amazing lady with the biggest heart I've ever known.

So who or what are you mommas thankful for this holiday season?

What can I do next?

My husband and son, my family, my new job that I started 2 weeks ago - they gave me the holiday paid time off days, even though the manual states a 30 day wait before PTO holidays kick in :)

First and foremost I'm above and beyond thankful for my eight month old baby boy. I wanted no more than to be a mother and it took alot for my dream to be realized, so I do not take him for granted. I was told it would be impossible to become pregnant and I conceived after three rounds of fertility treatments. Nothing is impossible!

I'm thankful that I have a job, that my husband has a job and that we have a roof over our heads.

Merry Christmas:)

Looking out the window at the cold rain, I am so thankful for our warm, cozy house. The roof over our heads...

So grateful for my family and the 'family' of friends that surrounds us. Kiddo's playing a ukelele from a friend of ours right now. Husband's on the phone with family...What would we be without our families, born or chosen?

What a sweet story. Please make sure your boss gets a nice thank you card from yourself or from your daughter.

I am thankful for family - my husband, my parents, my in-laws, grandparents, etc. My husband was laid off 10 days ago, yet he hasn't stopped working to support the family. Our extended family shows nothing but love and support for us. We are very blessed. My son got Christmas gifts and is a very happy and healthy child.

@ Hazel: I am happy, I guess, for my space heater! I have been sitting by it all morning wearing my sweater and slipper and long warm pants. We don't have central heat yet and it's CHILLY in our house! I'm a bit jealous of your warmth.

I am thankful for the luxury to be in a position where my kids dont have to want or need.

For my grandmother (actually my husbands grandmother who makes me feel like i am her own flesh and blood at christmas. She always gets me just the right things to let me know i am special to her and that she listens. This is the art of gift giving.

Im thankful that my husband did not have to work in another city for Christmas, he was able to come home and enjoy both days with me and the kids and he has been on his best behavior too.

Im thankful that this final pregnancy is going well and that all three of my pregnancies were healthy and my kids never had serious problems.

now for some not-so-serious ones. Im thankful my........

3 year old potty trained 100% yesterday and today
my 8 year old still pretends there is a Santa
my 3 year old CHOSE to sleep with her sister and not me these last 2 nights and i got alone time with the husband.

Kudos to your boss and the Christmas spirit. Corporate America should take her lead :-)

In staying positive, I am most thankful for the friends and family--some are one the same--who have remained a constant in my life no matter how far away they live. I am most thankful for my husband and my lovely 21 mos old daughter who brings many smiles and tears of joy to my eyes, even if she is Daddy's girl!

I am greatful for my inlaws, despite my complaining about them. They took me in as their own and shower my daughter with extreme love.

Add to this list, health and a roof over my head, even in this economically-challenging time.

It is the cumulation of the small things that make life whole.

My healthy family and my health. My job. Laughter. My wonderful husband. My lovely sons. I am thankful for gratitude, if that makes sense. And forgiveness...I am thankful that I have learned how to forgive.
