Hey, i'm at home with the babes and my husband works two jobs. I would just put them in day care and work but almost all of my money would go to day care. Maybe i shouldn't feel this way but I feel awkward "asking" for money. I've always been independent before we had kids. I need a way to make my own money and call my own shots, you know reclaim my independence which is why i am going back to school in September. Im looking for a job
I can do at home, something that wont take up all of my time. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi SJ!

I know just how you feel! I think it's great that you are exploring different options to fulfill your need for some independence.

Let me tell you a little about what I do. I am a Passion Parties consultant. It allows me to stay home with my family, I make good money and I love what I do! Passion Parties is one of the quickest, easiest and most economical ways to own your own business. We have part and full-time consultants, and those who work their business alongside another job. At Passion Parties, we believe that each and every woman can reach her individual potential, and that is why we support the philosophy of "women helping women."

Is there a way you can work when your husband is home? Maybe weekends, evenings, holidays, over-night? What about part-time work? I know some people who make a living off of Avon. Try the part-time route if not maybe you can offer to baby-sit during the day and off hour to bring in some extra income. Good luck

A friend of mine has started selling Arbonne and she swears by it. If you like I can confirm with her if it is okay for you to contact her.

Hi SJ, you got some good suggestions but I would say that for direct sales (like Discovery Toys and Passion Parties) you really need to have a "Selling" personality. I tried selling Discovery for a while but did not succeed because I am more shy and reserved and had a hard time asking for sales and thriving at parties and home-visits. You could also look into mystery shopping as a way to supplement income. You won't get rich from it, but you can get a lot of perks and there are lots of shops where you can bring your kids along. You are an independent contractor so you choose your own schedule. Visit http://www.volition.com for ways to sign up. Just remember, signup should always be free - NEVER pay a mystery shopping company up front. Companies that ask for money up front are always scams. Good luck.

I also work from home in Direct Sales. The company I am with is BabyCrazy. www.mybabycrazy.com

It is only $79 to start and you get all your business items and a few demo products with that. There are no Sales quotas or inventory requirements. It is a very flexible business, and with only 500 reps nationwide, it is still a ground floor opportunity.

Let me know if you would like more information.

It's a perfect time of year to sell Discovery Toys, with the holiday season upon us! I, too, wanted to stay home with my child...and have continued to do so even now that he's a teen. I started doing DT when he was an infant. Despite the downturn in the economy, things are great at Discovery Toys. My sales were way up in 2008, and 2009 has been strong, as well. This is no surprise. Babies are born everyday and birthday parties still require gift-giving. Parents make children their priority and will buy quality learning materials for their kids even in tough times. You may know people who have lost jobs or need additional income. We offer something special to them: being home for their kids while they are able to earn and learn about childhood development and help other parents get educational toys for their children.

There's a nominal fee to join the company which provides you with catalogs and samples and all the paperwork you need. It's valued at close to $400, but costs a fraction of that. You earn $commissions and sometimes even get free toys. You'll also have the ability to sponsor others, and earn on their sales, too. You can even have your own website!

Independent companies that review thousands of toys have honored DISCOVERY TOYS with many awards (Dr. Toy, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, etc) Child development experts handpick the toys that go into our catalog to be suitable for specific ages and developmental skills. The toys provide open-ended play: that is, there's no right way or wrong way to play with them...there are usually many different ways, depending upon the level of the child and his imagination. Often multiple sets of rules are provided for different ways to play the same game. We also give most info in 3 languages. As a Discovery Toys consultant you'd be provided with a wealth of information to help you better sell the toys.

If you have more questions, I'm happy to answer them.

Please check out www.toysofdiscovery.com ...there's much more info there!

Happy Thanksgiving!
