Just Curious Why Santa Hands Out Peppermint Candy Canes??

I get they want to hand out something to the kids, but they now make so many flavors that little kids would like. Why do they continue to hand out the hot peppermint candy canes instead of a fruit flavored one? My four year old was so excited about her candy cane until she put it in her mouth. I felt so bad for her!

The red/white ones are usually cheaper in bulk and come in more sizes for ease of handing out, and they match the whole traditional Christmas color scheme and Santa's costume.

I don't like those candy canes either, I prefer the fruity ones... but I love using them as stirrers in my hot chocolate, the perfect amount of mint without being overwhelming! I tell my boys they can save them for hot chocolate so they don't whine about eating it then.

Some interesting info on the tradition of the candy cane:

Thats an interesting question! My thinking would probably be so they keep tradition or that if they run out of a color then the kids dont scream because of course they want the one kind that they dont have. Might just be easier.

Don't know what to tell you - my daughter is also 4 and loves the peppermint candy canes! Maybe because it's peanut, lactose, and gluten-free, they are a safe bet! And they are just synonymous with Christmas!

My children insist they're made out of toothpaste, but they force them down anyway. Anything for candy.

Well I don't know for sure but maybe for allergy reasons? I have an allergy to cherries, sometimes even the artificial flavor can set me off (weird huh?), so maybe it's just easier to stick to one flavor.

I know, once, we went to this fancy restaurant. They had a bowl of what I thought were peppermints up by the counter as you left. I grabbed one and popped it into my mouth on the way to the car. Surprise! They were cherry flavored. I spit it out immediately, but ended up throwing up my expensive dinner. No fun.

LOL at Queen of the Castle though!
