S.!.
I Love watching my kids play. I just love watching their little minds work and see how they solve problems or love watching them pretend play as in 1 is Mom and the other is Dad and the baby is their baby. It is cute and funny. Just love it!
What are your favorite things to do with your child? I love to go swimming with her, have splash wars in the kiddie pool at the house, go to the park (most of the time anyways), watching movies with her, and just talking to her. I could probably go on, but I want to limit the list haha. I'm always looking for new things or things I haven't thought of to do with her, so what are your favorites or things you like to do with your little one/s?
So many awesome things. I didn't even think about a kite. I love watching her play too, she has deemed the nearby park's platform her home and the other side her school a few times haha. I love bike rides too, I need to hook up her new child carrier and go on one (aw procrastination hehe). I love doing the crafts, but I seem to be more into it than she is sometimes lol. I SO want to take her to theme parks too, we don't have much nearby but when she's older we are going to travel and hit up Disney land and lagoon in utah. I am promising myself we will have a vacation every summer, big (Disney land) or small (week of camping).
I love cuddling with her and reading, so great. I absolutely adore dancing with her around the house too, I may have to pop in her toddler cds and see if she gets more excited that we listen to them together (outside the car haha).
Wow Riley, awesome list... so many good ideas.

We're currently into flying kites.
I dance around the house to his kiddie cds. He loves for us to act goofy! He also loves when I read a book and use different voices and faces!
i love doing "art projects" as my daughter calls them. i get tons of stuff at the dollar store (glitter, construction paper, foam shapes, stickers, tons of stuff). she just made a foam book mark for my sister. i love finding new parks to take her to. she loves to play outside. i'd love to hear some of your responses becauses i'm always looking for new things to do with her! :)
I love when we go for bike rides together. We live by beautiful lakes with paved bike trails for miles. When my daughter was younger, we had a Tag-a-Long bike that worked great fastened behind mine. Now she rides her 2-wheeler. We stop at playgrounds and beaches along the route and can make a day of it. Swimming together is great, too.
We like reading together, we take turns reading a page each. We are both in karate, also.
Cuddling and talking about anything and everything.
Hiking
- Sailing / boating/ ferry rides
- Kyaking
- Swimming
- Snowboarding (ANY snowplay is awesome, though)
- Overnight at a hotel (SO much fun!)
- Opera (we used to exclusively go to the dress rehersals. PERFECT for small children, because the director stops them between scenes for brief notes. So you can go listen to great music for 15 minutes or an hour, and just leave during one of the notes sessions. That way the kids love it, because they stay for as long as it's interesting to THEM. The hard part is leaving before they get bored when YOU'RE not bored. We haven't gone in a few years, but at the time dress rehearsal tickets -with student discount- were $7, and kiddo was free. LOVE it!)
- Plays/ Ballet (ditto on the dress rehearsals for wee ones)
- Opera, Plays, Ballet (full events). Nutcracker over the holidays, Family Day at the Opera that happens once or twice a year, Lion King & Les Mis when they were in town, etc.
- Cirque du Soleil
- Video Games
- Movies (theatre, especially our ancient $3 theatre, but also Real3D shows)
- Movies (Thursdays are our mommy-movie-night. Kiddo and I pop popcorn and watch a movie up in bed)
- Read aloud books (my son's 9, he's more than capable of reading them himself, but there's just something magic about curling up and reading books aloud)
- Side of the road food/ cart food
- Walking down to go get sushi
- Glitter tattoos, face painting, etc.
- School (we homeschool)
- Gymnastics
- Cleaning (we crank up music and dance while we clean)
- Building things (fences, hanging drywall, etc.)
- Painting (like, whole walls/ rooms)
- Cooking, especially things that can be cooked over fire (marshmallows, hotdogs, shrimp, etc.)
- Travel (one of my absolute favs is taking kiddo on a plane to _______)
- Photography... as in I sit/laydown/climb something and take pictures of kiddo flying a kite, building, chasing the dog, whatever. This is my lazy-me-love-it sort of thing to do. HE plays, I take pictures of it
- Cheering (sports, drama, etc., as in I'm cheering from the sidelines while he plays/acts)
- Dragging sleeping bags out on the deck and star gazing
Swimming is my favourite thing with the boys. Baking. I bring my eldest to work and he loves to help me in the office ( he's six). Playing on our special beach. Outside games! They love them - statues and chasies. Every evening we snuggle up and read two books. Talking about their day. Having bubble baths. Picnics. Kicking and catching balls. Tickling. Family movie night. Drawing and colouring. Simple craft.
When my daughters were preschool age I really enjoyed reading togehter. As they got older, I enjoyed playing board and card games.
Visit theme parks and water parks . . . watch movies. Talk about life, religion, politics, social policy, etc. My older son loves sports, so we watch football and basketball too. My younger son is very active in karate, and we go to karate events.
Mine are 17 & 14 so they are out of the little kid phase. Enjoy it while it lasts! That time is so precious . . .
