Fantasy-I want a vacation by myself for a week, lol...
Realistically-I asked for another toaster oven, towels for my bathroom, (pathetic, I know) and a facial......
Happy Mother's Day!!!!!
It's fastly approaching and my husband keeps asking me what I want.....I want some peace and quiet....LOL - ironically, my whole family (including my mom) are coming over my house for a cookout, so I get to spend the day cooking and cleaning up after people....funny, it's what I want to do! Any gift ideas though?
Happy Mother's Day, Mama's!!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!!!
My kids not to fight about anything. For them to pick up their toys from the yard, ALL day without having to be hounded. To wear their helmets before they get on their bikes. They always seem to find a reason they forgot before going into the middle of the street. To have the power wheel magically park itself back in its own parking spot. The middle of the garage is for the the real car!
I want to hear them giggle, sing and chatter. I want my oldest to sing me his sweet songs. My little one I want to try and make me crack a crooked smile. And to watch my middle guy try and pump himself on the swing set!!!
Chances are though, it will be chaos as usual! I will be out patrolling the street, for cars while the neighbor kids swamp the yard all afternoon!! my kids will be covered in Popsicle juice and I will look over at my hubby and shrug my shoulder and say ''eh, it could be worse!''
I want my husband to plant flowers for me in the yard. It is what my dad, brother and I always did for my mom, so I'm continuing the tradition! (My kids are too young to help out, but someday they will be included!)
I want to make it through the day without thinking about killing my MIL : )
My son picked out a keychain for me!!! (love it... it's a little space ship) and a caffeine molecule tshirt. ((I am SUCH a geek)). He came up with these on his own.
((One of these years I'm going to actually save up and get the DNA art with him and myself on it... told ya, big geek))
My "plan"
Morning:
- Dim Sum (tradition... we've been going there since kiddo could crawl under the tables... LOVE how the Chinese view children in restaurants!)
- Mani/pedi
- massage
- tanning
Afternoon:
- Spending several hours playing my son's favorite xbox games with him and eating hotwings and grilling oysters and eating cake
My birthday is the 9th... so mother's day and my birthday are always kind of a joint affair
I want to spend the day at my house ALONE! But that's not gonna happen.
I want a half wine barrel, and a rose bush that has purple fragrant flowers that I can pick!
a nap, a bag of money, someone else to feed the dogs
I want a weekend away with the family. Fishing, sleeping, no computers or cell phones.
Happy Mother's Day!
I asked my husband for a chocolate filled croissant from Panera, warmed up, ready for me when I awake. He's asked me several times this week, just to confirm, that I want a chocolate covered croissant and I keep repeating = no I want a chocolate FILLED croissant. Yes they carry both kinds….
Man I KNOW he will mess this up! LOL!!!!!
If he gets at least the croissant part right, I’ll be happy. That and a ton of hugs and kisses from my kids =-)
My husband has been asking me what I want. I came up with a small list for him to pick from.
1. pedicure
2. a bouquet of tulips (I love spring)
3. to go out for dinner at the drive up in our town
(I'm 33 weeks pregnant so maybe that is the reason for the dinner and the pedicure since I can hardly put on my socks let alone paint my toe nails)
I want a new cell phone and for my husband to build an addition onto the house so I have my own space!
I live near Washington, D.C. - they have public service awareness and ALL of our military come out and show off their wares - the kids get to handle guns, climb in boats, helicopters, tanks and the like - IT IS SOOOOOOO MUCH FUN!!!!
Happy Mother's day to you!!
I want to be able to sleep as late as I want & for there to be coffee made whenever I decide to get up. I want to eat food as delicious as if I'd made it myself, but not actually cook anything. I want quiet time in my living room to read. I want a pedicure. I want to go to the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach & walk in the beautiful, sunshiney, warm weather, people watch, and get a sundae from Cold Stone.
I don't know if a single one of those things will happen, but for me it would be a perfect day!!
always thrilled to get a professional massage. It never gets old.
I love to read. So I always say a book, (motivational ones are my thing) a long nap without any interruptions, board games with the family that night to make me laugh (I seen a new one at Walmart called "Things") It had cards like, "Things you wouldn't tell your in-laws, things...... and potatoe casserole and ham for dinner. I'm easy.
Tell your husband that you want a maid for the week. That way you get some extra time to do things. I am talking about those house cleaning services. It might make a difference and who know you could end up using one all the time. But for mom's someone else to do the house work is a dream come true.
I want a card.
And for my kids to sleep in past like, 7:00.
SLEEP :-) ...... not gonna happen though - Hubby is at the FD for a 24 ..... such is life! LOL but DS and I get to spend the day w/ my mom :-)
HAPPY DAY TO ALL !!!
have not read the others so sorry if I am redundant but mani/pedi or facial gift cards are nice and it requires you getting "time off" to go. Good Luck.
N.
I'm loving the answers!
I actually just thought about this today. It's my 1st Mother's day, so I'm not sure whether I'll get anything, but man would I really like some maid service.
I'm pregnant with my second so I so don't want to clean, but then, being pregnant I get easily grossed out too.
The sleeping in thing also sounds like a great idea. :)
Honestly??? I don't know....just the day together..
I have a list:
- want a cleaning service to come every week!
- My husband to finish the house projects he starts. (For the past 4years I
have two different kitchen cabinets.)
- my two sons to weed the garden instead of spending money on me.
They chose to spend the money...less effort for them.
- a gardiner
- a decluttered house (I better get started on that)
- for all of you to have a Happy Mother's Day!!
I will be lucky to get a card from my kids who are too young to go into a store and buy one, so it will have to be J, and we'll see how that turns out. He thinks I spend excessively, so he has put a damper on getting anything extra.
What I would really like is new mulch and beautiful flowers in my front yard.
Gifts?
Have your Husband hire someone to come and wash all your windows!
And have your car detailed!
And, have a buffet that you do not have to cook or clean up after.
anything that took time to think about, but also a dishwasher would be nice.
I want to go hiking. My daughter's birthday is Saturday though so don't know if I will have the energy. lol Spend the day having fun with my kids is just perfect.
If you seek peace and quiet (I do....I visit my mom on Saturday all day and take her out to eat instead so I can just lay in the hammock on Sunday and she's fine with that.) then how about your husband get you either a gym membership (an hour of peace a day!) or yoga classes (truly relaxing). Good luck and enjoy the day :)
so many of these today. our wedding anniversary is next week. mother's day this sunday. swim classes saturday. forecast rain all weekend. what I want? really? i really don't want anything badly this year. Surprisingly happy (thanks to my happy pills). so no edge, no expectations. i have two wonderful kids. really, my mothers day has been fulfilled for eternity.
now, if the house were to clean itself on its own, i would not complain much. other than that, i just want to cuddle up.
ps: plural for mom is Moms. Mama's is the possessive form. I'm sorry I couldn't resist.
Don't you love it when everyone thinks it would be nice for YOUR day to have you work? For gifts, I'd suggest a spa day, or a coupon book from everyone in the family (kids too) about something they will do for you - could be an afternoon "off" to just do something for yourself, unloading the dishwasher, folding laundry, etc. -- they agree that they will do the task on the coupon (which they have made up) without arguing whenever you "redeem" the coupon to them. The nice thing about it is, they kind of have to think of all the stuff you do for them, and all the stuff you ask them to do but they complain about and never do, and then give those items to you as a gift. Makes you feel appreciated!
