Hello, I have a 2 month old that was delivered by C-section. She is my second daughter and both have been C-sections... last time I got a big fat horrible keloid scar. It bothered me a lot. This far, this second scar is still flat, but I am afraid it will grow bigger and fatter... I was wondering if any of you know of any way to help it not get as big and fat. Anything will help. Thanks a lot in advance!!!

What can I do next?

Hi A.,
Congrats on the new baby! I have one daughter by C-section, too.
We have been using coconut oil for several issues, though scarring is not one. However, I looked in both of the two books I have on coconut oil & found something about injuries & pg 164 of 'Coconut Cures' says this: 'Injuries, infections, growths (warts & moles), and blemishes of every kind respond very well to coconut oil therapy.
It would be worth a try, plus it's so good for so many things, I highly recommend it. There is a very cheap brand of coconut oil at Walmart, but go for the good stuff--unrefined virgin. The cheap stuff undergoes too much processing & may even go through a 'bleaching & deodorizing' process of 'refinement.' Don't cheat yourself, OK. We started using the cheap stuff for.... well.... husband/wife relations. ;-) Then we discovered other purposes when DH was battling candida. (Yes, men can get it, too.) A long story, but that's when we got the good coconut oil that he could take several tablespoons per day by mouth. Now we just use the good stuff for everything. (Great for my dry feet!).... I could go on & on, but we all have things to do.

The other book I have is titled 'The Coconut Oil Miracle' by Bruce Fife.
Best wishes.

I to delivered C-section. I used Mederma religiously rubbing and massaging it in. I did not develop any keloid scarring. I learned about Mederma because of a another surgery I had prior to the C-Section. There are other products just ask your doctor.

My OB suggested Curad Scar Therapy. They are gel pads that you put over the scar and they really minimize the scar. You could barely see my scar. I just had another c-section two weeks ago and plan on using it again.

Good luck.

Hey A., I am and L and D nurse and I have seen those horrible scars you are talking about. I have also had a c/s myself. The keloid scars are usually setting up to happen with in the first few wks after your c/s. That is when the majority of the outside healing takes place. If your 2 months out and it is still flat, you should be good. There really is not much you can do to at this point to change the outcome either way. The scarring cream will improve the look of the scar, but not prevent a keloid. Sounds like this one should be good though!

I treat scars all the time in my practice. Apply wheat germ oil twice a day for 90 days. This will fix 60% of scars. Also if you can do cold laser on the scar as well, this will fix about 50% of scars. Put them together and you can definitely completely clear the scar.
