We met my 7 year old son's kindergarten teacher's newborn last night. She is a week old and only 5 pounds, 7 ounces. My smallest was 7.1, I'm not sure I've ever seen a baby so small! Either way, my kids had some fabulous comments!

My 9 year old daughter was just head over heels in love with her.

My 7 year old was in awe. His eyes got really big and he just kept saying how much he loved her! So sweet. He commented on how small her hands were, and then looked at her feet and said "those things are smaller than the flip flop key chains we just got in Myrtle Beach!"

My 5 year old was holding her (with her daddy right there) and he said "she's beautiful, but I think she's supposed to be a boy!" I almost fell over! When we stopped laughing we asked him why and his response was "because her hair is straight and short like a boy's."

This little princess has a head full of straight, dark hair. She's just perfect :).

Did your kids have funny reactions/comments to a newborn?

What can I do next?

When my almost four year old came to the hospital to meet his sister (three weeks ago), he said, "Mom, are we gonna keep her?" Since then, he will introduce people to her and say, "...and we get to keep her."

When my 5.5 year old came to the hospital to see us, he didn't have much to say about the baby, but he did say, "Mom, you're not fat anymore."

Gotta love kids! :)

After having my daughter home for a couple of weeks my 8 year old (now 9) said to me with tears in his eyes..."I don't like her. All she does is cry!"
Now she is 1 1/2 and the apple of his eye.

Hi, Mom"
My 3 year old son said that the baby looked like
a "Beatle." She had long straight hair like the Beatltes back
then.

That takes me back years.

From the moment I had my son my daughter then 3 stated "he is my brother and my baby you can hold him but he's mine!"

Upon seeing a picture of myself as a newborn my daughter, 8, emphatically said "no M. that can't be you because that is a doll, it even says so on the picture." LOL I was ____@____.com 6.5oz and was referred to as a living doll by the nurses in the NICU so on the bottom of the photo that is what it stated.

My son upon meeting my niece goes up to his aunt who was talking and says with his finger to his lips "shhhhhh, -aby(baby) -aby shhhh."
