I have a four year old son that will be five in July. I hope for him to begin Kindergarten this year, though I will decide for sure as the date approaches. I am looking for a summer program, or a program for him to start now until the school year begins. I am a stay at home mother, so I don't want to pay for just a day care. I want something like a K-Prep, that will be fun and exciting but also a taste of what kindergarden will be like. I am open to part and full time, just depends on the program. I live in Burleson, so anywhere in the Fort Worth, Crowley, Joshua, Mansfield areas will be perfect. Thanks in advance for any advise!

What can I do next?

My kids both went to Crowley United Methodist preschool (CUMP). My first son started when he was 2 and it really prepared him for kindergarten - he also has a birthday that falls just before school starts so he was barely 5 when he started kindergarten. He has done great this year (even though many people "pooh-poohed" the idea of sending him at an early age and thought boys should be held back. I totally credit his success to the CUMP preschool. My second son is going there now, he is 2. I very highly suggest them, they are all so very sweet and caring and they actually have a transition class as well for kids who may not be quite ready for kinder and require another year of "prep." They really are awesome - they offer 4 days a week or 2 days a week, Mon - THurs (not open on Fri). They also have before school and after school care. Registration just opened to the public and their number is ###-###-####, you can also look them up online.
My friend sent her children to a church preschool in Burleson and she was very pleased also, I don't know the name of the church though. And lastly, I have heard some really great things about Joshua Christian Academy - they actually have a full - fledged school through 12th grade .... good luck!!!

McKinney Bible Church in Fort Worth has a preschool/Mothers Day Out that will run half the summer. They are 3 days a week from 9-2, and will offer classes up to Kindergarten age. My son went there during the year for his regular preschool (ages 3-5), and he was well prepared for Kindergarten- which by the way is at a private school so the curriculum is a little more advanced/faster-paced and he's done great. Don't know the exact dates of the summer sessions, but you can find the contact information online and call to speak with the director (her name is Laura). The program is the ELC (early learning center).

My daughter is in Pre K now and loves it. My other 2 started pre-k there as well (still there). You will love it. They do centers, read stories, learn and write their letters and name. Each week they work on a different letter of the alphabet, so for the entire week they reinforce that letter. They learn words that begin with the letter, eat foods that begin with it. Example the week that they learn the letter P, they end the week with a "Pablo's Beach Party". Ofcourse Pablo is a Penquin. They also wear Pajamas and eat popcorn for snack that week. Lots of great learning tools. My daughter always wants to go to school. Check it out and if you have more questions send me a message.

My son is 4 and goes to Building Blocks and is in thier Pre K class. he writes his name, knows his colors, is learning his letters (we stil get confused on some of them) and is having fun while there too.

He is also learning socialization skills/sharing as well because even tho he's not my ONLY child, he is my ONLY child at home.

I know you don't want a "plain" day care but I have to say that my experience there has been a positive one and would recommend to anyone.

Good luck in your search. :)
