Kindergarten Graduation Gift for My Son?

We gave my daughter flowers when she graduated. I want to give my son something, but I don't think he will like the flowers as much. What is a good gift like that? Also for Father's Day. My husband got me a BEAUTIFUL arrangement, and I want to get him something similar (we are saving for vacation so extra funds are tight.)

What can I do next?

You could go to the post office and get him a little stamp collecting book (there's a cool one now for dog and cat stamps), help him paste a stamp in the book and write the date, and as years go by on momentous occasions (first lost tooth, completion of each grade, etc.), he can add a stamp and enter the date. By the time he is an old geezer his little uncancelled stamps will be valuable to collectors, but mostly it is cheap and fun.

Must you buy a gift for your son? Why not just take him out for icecream? It's just kindergarten.

Perhaps for your husband you can buy him something practical or something he/the household needs. Do you need a new weedwacker? (I'm a single mom and I bought myself one for Father's Day a few years back since I do both jobs.) What about buying him a gift basket with a bottle of wine and cheese or nuts? Or you could just buy the bottle of wine and make a book of "favors" for him-some naughty some nice.

Graduation gift - I got my son a bubble fan, some silly bands he wears around his wrists that turn into animal shapes, a model airplane to build and a card. He was thrilled. I spent $9.

My husband would prefer I save all money for the vacation and not buy him anything.. Let him sleep in, make him breakfast, take the kids out of the house so he can be alone for a while. No sense in wasting money on something when funds are extra tight. Show you love him in other ways.

=)

I would get him just like a 10.00 gc to wal mart or target or give him 10.00 to go wild in the dollar store. Frame a picture of your kids for fathers day or make him something w/their pictures on it.

When my boys finished Kindergarten I bought them each a book, Dr. Suess- "Oh the places you'll go". I wrote them each a message on the inside cover. I love that book and the message of that book!!! :)

You could give your husband a nice plant and write something on the card like, "May this grow and grow, just like our love for you!"

Since you gave your daughter flowers, your son might like a little potted plant to keep in his room.

Instead of buying something my son after his last day of kindergarten he and I went on a hike and a picnic together. He had fun doing something just the two of us. On the last day of school I take all the kids out for ice cream if everyone did well in school that year. Our own start of summer celebration. Usually we only eat ice cream in since it's much cheaper that way so this is a real treat they look forward to.

Why don't you take him out for ice cream? And your husband out for dinner?

A meaningful book with an inscription from you. Maybe 1 of a series so you can give him another volume w/each graduation - elem, middle, high and college. That way, he can look back on them years later. Hubby - what about something he could use on vacation - fancy beach chair, etc. depending upon the vacation plans. Or would it be possible to arrange a night out sans kids while on vacation - you could buy a gift certificate to a restaurant wherever you are going. Or maybe find a spa (where you are vacationing) and get him a massage gift certificate if he likes that kind of thing.

Perhaps you could put together a scrap book of his time in Pre-K and K, with short messages from his respective teachers. This would be symbolic of the end of this very important stage in his life, and serve as nice souvenir when he gets older.

what kind of vacation are you going on? maybe you can get them both something on that theme. If you are going fishing, get your little one a fishing pole for graduation. Then for Fathers day get your husband a new tackle box or some fancy lures.

For my son, I would just get him a super sized slurpee and a Mighty Kids meal! Or take him to Dairy Queen.
