Leaking Fluid 8 Weeks AFTER Childbirth - Is This Normal?

I gave birth to my second child 8 weeks ago by C-section. There were no complications in the pregnancy - it was a scheduled repeat C-section. About 2 weeks ago I started leaking this watery fluid. It comes and goes every few days. This didn't happen with my first child and I'm just wondering if it's normal or if this has happened to anyone else or what it could be? Should I be concerned or will it go away?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much to all who responded! It was just a watery vaginal discharge and it turns out it's more normal than I thought. Thank you all for your support and input. It's good to know I'm not alone!

Probably not what you want to hear, but I started leaking after my 3rd child, (also a C section), and I haven't stopped. I have consulted w/ my OB a/b it several times over the last 7 years since giving birth to my third, and he says it just happens sometimes. The good news is no cause for concern, the bad news is you probably start need to wearing panty liners, etc...for as long as it keeps up. Good Luck.

I am, too. I just had my third c-section and had not experienced this before. I actually bled for 6 wks. after this one, which is more than I had with the other two. Now it's the watery discharge. I haven't asked my OB-GYN about this yet, as I just chalked it up to hormonal changes (I'm almost 37). I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but you might want to ck. w/your OB about it if it really concerns you.

A.,

Two weeks is long enough to see if something will clear up on it's own it's not so call your ob asap.
My thoughts are with you.

I didn't have that issue after my c-section, so I'm unsure what to tell you. My best advice would be to call your ob-gyn and ask them for advice! At my office, they always have nurses that are willing to answer simple questions like that, and it may give you some peace of mind. Good luck!

Where are you leaking from? The incision site?

I would contact your physician immediately just to see what he/she says.

I know I bled for weeks and weeks and weeks. I honestly thought it would never end.

Then, I realized I had a bit of a urinary leakage which shocked me.

Could it be coming from your urethra?

Is the leak from you your incision or from your vagina?
Do you notice it more after a hectic day? Sometimes we tend to overexert ourselves once we start to feel bck to normal. Especially after the second or more children.

take it easy. Call your dr if it start smelling or doesn't stop.

It's normal -- though I would suggest talking with your GYN.

Where are you leaking the fluid from? If it is from the incision site, I would contact your physician. I had 3 C-sections and a total abd. hyst from the samd incision and as a RN I would be concerned about possible infection. It may be nothing but don't take any chances.

Call your obstetrician and let them know that you are leaking the fluid, especially if it is from your incision. This is definitely not normal, and you need to have it checked out.
