Definitely! I've actually found that the parties we've gone to on weeknights are more enjoyable because the venues tend to be much less crowded than on the weekend. How fun to have a special birthdate like that!
I know it's a year away but my daughter was born on Leap Day (2008) and will be during 1 (ha ha) next year. We have skipped birthday parties the last 2 years because we plan to have a big party next year. Leap Day falls on a Wednesday in 2012. Would anybody attend a birthday party on a Wednesday night? Any other birthday I have no problem celebrating on a different date on the weekend, that's just normal. But this is a very special day, only comes around once every 4 years and it's just not the same celebrating a Leap Day birthday on say February 26th, it's the same as every other year. I have no idea what we're going to do for her party yet, it will be friends and family (kids ages 1-11 probably). But is it unreasonable to have a party on a Wednesday night? I've never been to one myself so I don't know. TIA

Leap Year is a special occassion. Absolutley hold it on it's proper day. Those who know the imprtance will be happy to come!
For this occasion, I would definitely attend on a Wednesday! I also wouldn't mind my kids staying up a little late for it. This is very special for your daughter and worth a mid-week party!! I would just make it around dinner time or a little earlier and make sure to provide a meal.
It's a great idea but I'd make it early and include a simple dinner.
Id go to a party on a wednesday night, as long as it wasnt really late.
Absolutely have a party on her actual birthday!
I've been to parties at Chuckie Cheese during the week, and its not too bad.
I would go, I think it's very cool!
I'd invite good friends and have a dinner party - she gets to have her her favorite meal, even if it's mac and cheese and cupcakes. :)
Honestly, it all depends on how late the party goes. She'll be turning 4--its probably a lot to expect young kids to stay up past 8pm (and fed a lot of sugar on a wednesday night). I'm not able to get my 4yo to bed by 8 but a lot of parents do. My daughter should be ending her bath and getting in PJ's around 8... I understand that you want to celebrate on the actual day, but I would do something else than a party to make my daughter feel special. I'd probably take the day off work and take her somewhere extra special--maybe plan the whole day out having fun (dress up as princesses, tea party lunch, get toes painted, see a movie/show, etc.). And have a big bday party on the weekend--because I don't know if you'll be able to get a big turn out (no matter how big of a party you plan) if the children's age group is mainly under age 8 and the party is on a school night.
I just attended a Chuck E Cheese birthday party with my kids and it was on a Tuesday nihgt. I say go for it, but you will have to provide dinner I think. I agree with you that it is a special day.
Go for it! Yes its unusual, but if you give people enough warning it shouldn't be a problem!
