Leeking Diapers

I had the same problem with my son at that age. He also is small for his age. I didn't want to go up a size in diapers for fear he would drown in them. I finally broke down and bought s bigger size. It worked wonders and he didn't leak anymore. The other thing you can do is buy the huggies overnight diapers. Hope this helps.

My son's diapers would leak at night also. I started using the Huggies Overnights at night only and he has not really leaked at all since I started those. I don't think that going to the next size up before they are "ready" will help. Try those, it sucks having to buy 2 kinds of diapers however you should only have to buy the Overnights once a month. Try Huggies Overnights, they work great! My little girl was 15 months when she too started leaking at night and we've been using them for over 5 months now. The Overnights are thicker in front than traditional diapers to help hold it all in. She hasn't had any problem with rashes and she's in the same diaper for 12-13 hours overnight.

Hi, I went through the same thing with my son and now with my daughter. Both of my kids are small as well. I have used with great success, the Huggies Overnight diapers. The smallest they come is size 4 (my daughter normally wears a 3), but it has made all the difference at night. It is definitely worth a try. Plus because the diaper is probably larger than what I'm guessing your son wears it will absorb even more!

I'm not sure if you seen my posting from last week, but I was having the same problem with my 10 month old. He is just over 19 lbs.

Anyway, one of the Mamasource mothers suggested Huggies Overnight. We've been using those (one size up from his regular diapers) for about a week now and haven't had any more night time leaking.

I would try switching brands of diapers. It seems different brands work better for different kids, and the same goes for boys vs girls. Also if you haven't done so, change him right before you put him to bed and limit how much he drinks before bed.

I have had the same problem with my 11 month old son. He is a bit bigger than yours. What I've had to do is just change him in the middle of the night, even when he's sleeping. Or you could get these overnight diapers that are used for wetting the bed- not sure if they'd have them in his size. They are supposed to hold more. Another suggestion might be to restrict his liquids in the evening. That would be pretty h*** o* some kids. Maybe give him a small snack with water to hold him over, not let him bring a cup to bed- if you do. Good luck!

I would recommend trying the Huggies Nighttime diapers. I use a generic brand for during the day but will bring out the Huggies for nighttime. My 21month old daughter has never leaked through hers - and she's petite and tiny too. Hope this helps.

My son had/has the same problem. I would keep putting him in the next size up (even though the packages claimed to be for bigger kids than what he was). Eventually he was in the biggest size there is. Now I stay up and change his diaper at about midnight. Doing this is a pain, but it is better than changing sheets every day.LOL

If he's wet. change him even if he's sleeping. say u go to bed @ 11 and he's in @ 8 check him and don't cover the diaper up so you can just pull it off while he sleeps. maybe every 3 or 4 hrs. he's leeking. be careful and gentle so no disturbing him. good luck.

Hi, My name is J...they have goodnight diapers that have a stronger absorbsion and anti-leaking. Or, lessen the drinking to 1hour prior to bedding, change the diaper right before going to bed. good luck

I had the same situation. When my son was about 12 months old, he kept leaking through his diapers. We did go up to the size 5's even though he was only about 20 pounds. He has no waste and it very thin and we had to overlap the tape in the front for them to fit, but at least they worked. He is still on the 5's and he's only 18 months old and about 23 pounds. He drinks a lot of milk, juice, and water during the day and loves his milk before going to bed and we didn't want to change that because we think it is important for him to have all of that. So going up in size was our only option. He still sometimes will leak during the night, like after our last trip he slept for 12 hours when we returned. We expected that. I've even changed him in the middle of the night just to stop this from happening.
