Well, it's happened. My daughter's cousins were infected and when I came home and checked my daughter, she had what appeared to be some nit shells (maybe 20) and I only found one louse (or what appeared to be one). The whole thing is kind of confusing. They are so small that I am not 100% convinced that she had lice but went through the process anyway (was up until 1am cleaning, etc). I also shampooed my hair with the RID and my hubby checked me and he shaved his head (not too much to shave anyway :) I changed and washed bedding, clothes, etc. Vacuumed, etc. Seems like I have a world of garbage bags waiting to be dealth with...

Any advice on next steps would be great. Anyone have it come back? Was anyone else confused by the is it/isn't it? Ugh, this just sucks!!

Thanks so much!

keep hair.. both of you with hair spray.. and in a pony tail.. lice likes fly away soft hair.. so use a lot of hairspray.. for about 2 -3 weeks.. if in 2 - 3 weeks you don't see anymore than you are ok... aquanet hairspray is the best for this.. it's hard..

Hi JC:

It would be best to consult with your doctor to find out if it is really lice. If it is, your actions to get rid of it were most likely very helpful. A combination of garlic and tea tree oil would add great assistance to thoroughly get rid of on the scalp.

For consultation support, feel free to contact my office.

All the best,

Use oil. Cover everyone's head tonight and in 9 days with olive oil, put on a shower cap and sleep with it on. It smothers eggs and live critters alike, is not poision, great for your hair. Make sure the hair and scalp are throughly saturated and that it stays on for eight hours at least.

Good day JC,

my suggestion would be a preventive natural measure where the shampoo you would use contains melaleuca Oil (or Tea tree oil); I have done that consistently and never have to deal with this challenging issue for the last 17 years!!! just email me and I will send you the Melaleuca catalog. I am a pediatric/labor Rn in Vermont.
