Hi ladies!
I had the mirena out in 2007, got diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2010 after I practically begged my doctor to check it, according to her I was depressed & needed depression medication. I finally got it removed in March 2012! I wanted to know if other women's thyroid levels changed & medication needed to be adjusted either down or up? And if anyone who has a skin reaction because if the mirena did it go away once it was removed & how long.

Sorry ladies lots of questions ... But I truly feel that there isn't much information given when they offer the mirena, my life was completely changed & I just want it back!

Take care!

Find yourself a doctor trained by Dr. Hilgers of the Pope Paul the VI Institute. Dr. Hilgers is world renown for his work in hormones and fertility in women. He found my thyroid issue when no one else did and then NATURALLY worked to correct it. He has helped many people who's bodies have been messed up because of birth control. I am not certain I understand your question. Are you saying that your thyroid problem was caused by the Mirena? And also a skin reaction? Of what kind?

I am no doctor, so maybe I am missing something, but the fact that you had a Mirena and then had some other health problem doesn't mean that one was caused by the other. I guess I am just wondering why you have come to that conclusion?

I was kind of wondering the same thing as Bridgett B - why do you think hypothyroidism was caused by Mirena three years after you stopped it? Sounds like the two were unrelated. However, I'd love to know what else you experienced while on Mirena. I recently tried birth control pills for the first time to deal with hormonal issues and frequent periods. They worked for that, but I got really itchy and developed eczema (or so the walk-in clinic said). I was skeptical since I've never had eczema before. And I know it can develop suddenly, but I have since stopped the pills and I am now fine - no itching. I also noticed my blood sugar levels were a little out of whack while on the pill (I'm normally hypoglycemic and regulate with diet, but my sugars were dropping so much and I haven't had that problem since college!). And I had terrible headaches, which my whole family seems to have on the pill. Anyway, all of that went away as soon as I went off the pill. My doctor and I are now discussing the use of Mirena as a possibility, but I know nothing about it...

How long were you on Mirena? I as bc I got it almost a year ago in March and I had noticed dramatic change in moods. I've become really sensitive and edgy during PMS and I've been experiencing several episodes of depression. My periods have been totally off where I'd spot for upwards of 2-2.5 weeks with a week or two break before it starts again. My doctor tells me that I'm the "exception" with the periods and that I should consider the upside of it being just spotting vs. heavy flows. As for my mood swings and depression well...they question my on whether I have "other" things that may really be going on that causes me to be depressed. In all honesty my current conditions in life and family status has never been any better than it has in the past year, so...no, I don't have "other" that may be causing my depression! I don't know if its true whether our conditions are caused by Mirena, but I surely am skeptical about the product and have read numerous other negative feedback about the product. I am currently contemplating on having it removed...

So sorry to hear this! I have chronic pelvic pain from something else. I decided not to do Mirena because my Dr. didn't recommend it due to my inflammation. I also searched on here and saw many women had problems with it. So sad that you are dealing with this. If you ever want support, private message me and I'd be glad to talk! I know what it's like to live with pain and health issues!!
