Liquid Stitch Is AMAZING! Anyone Know Any Other Great Tips?

So, as some of you may know I recently (last week!) had to make a pirate costume for my daughter. Well, that worked out great, she was a pirate princess with an attitude and was adorable.

This week (and thanks to a missing small piece of paper, I found out yesterday) tomorrow is super hero day for her camp group. She has a made up hero SUper Girl (yes I know there is a real one, but this is from her imagination, with no realtion to the real one). She gave me "details" on the cape - sparkly red, flowers in the hair, and a bag to carry all the animals she saves. IT really is too cute!

So anyway, with no sewing machine I have been using liquid stich and that stuff is amazing. It is quick and easy, dries fast and is all around great.

So, does anyone out there have any nifty ideas to make this sort of thing any easier??

Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I made designer drapes and a table cloth using remnants from a high end fabric/upholstery store and "wonder under." Fabric cost @ $2/yard. Wonder under is a strip that is made to hem pants without sewing - just fold the fabric up and iron. I used it to make the curtain rod casing at the top, and then hem the bottom. Voila! Toile curtains!

You know those promotional bags you get at events? That have the company's name and logo on it? Get some cute fabric and cut it in an oval or circle to cover the logo. Use heat and bond to iron the fabric on. THEN cut your child's initals out (or a flower shape or car shape or heart) of a different fabric, and heat and bond that on top of the circle. Now you have an almost free custom gym, soccer, or ballet bag for your child!

I make some really elaborate halloween costumes. I don't sew very well...at all. I'd say about 80% of what I make, is made with hotglue. I've attached things to fabric, made belts, and even seams. Super cheap, fast and easy - just watch those fingers!

BTW...I love that your daughter is using her imagination and making her own super hero!!

There is an iron-on bonding tape that you can use, too. I think it is called "stitch witchery" or something like that. I used it on drapery panels in my dining room and you cannot tell that they weren't stitched on a machine. Good stuff.

I am also with S B., the hotglue gun is awesome. When in doubt, there's always duct tape... :)

Your daughter has a wonderful imagination!
